Hey y’all… I have a problem with my pager. For some reason, It won’t recieve about half the pages that are sent to me. I just had it set up on the 28th, and it’s been a complete pain in the ass. I live in Tallahassee, FL, and my service is through Airtouch. Has anyone else had a problem like this? I called the company tonight, and they think it may be a bad pager, and are going to send me a new one to find out if that’s the problem.
Problems like that usually indicate that you are out of range of the cell site or transmitter; in a building which blocks the signal; you accidentally turn the pager to ‘off’ when you are trying to switch from ‘audible’ to ‘vibrate’; you push the wrong button by mistake and erase the unsaved messages; your battery is making a bad connection; there is an intermittent open (OK, it could be a short)in the hardware.
The other possibility is that the people who are paging you are doing it wrong so you never get the page but they insist they sent one.
The simple solution is a cell phone.
Did they check to see if they had the coverage areas right and all? You may be wandering out of range sometimes. It happens.

I’ve been periodically sending myself test pages to see if the problem is going in and out of range… that’s not it. It works sometimes and doesn’t work sometimes, with no basis on my location.

I send the pages the same time each time, and it makes no difference.

I live on the more “well-off” side of Tallahassee… this is the side of town that all the pager and cell phone companies make SURE is covered.

I have a cell phone, but it’s a hassle. I don’t like having to carry the thing around, and it’s loud and awkward. I’d also much wrather be able to see who’s calling and decide whether to pick it up, or wait until it’s more convenient to call them back.
