I don’t know of any other weapon’s viability which has been debated as much, as the, venerable nunchaku. As a proponent of nunchaku I’d like, to finally answer this question.
To quote a former poster “it’s not, the martial art that’s important but the martial, artist”. The nunchaku IN THE RIGHT HANDS is an incredibly effective blunt force weapon. Unfortunately in the majority of cases people automatically assume they have some innate expert level of nunchaku knowledge when in reality all they’re comes from Bruce Lee movies which are hell & gone from reality. The final answer is nunchaku are as deadly a weapon as the degree of skill of the artist using them. Otherwise they wouldn’t be illegal in a helluva lotta places. There have been many kids severely inured & a few killed by nunchaku. Almost all of these cases were blunt force injuries. Although they also can easily strangle a person with just a few lbs. of pressure which any 5 yr old girl can produce.
Bruce Lee once said I would seriously fear a man whose practiced one move a thousand times.
The really funny thing about nunchuck bans is that its use as a weapon originally developed as a way to get around weapons bans. You can forbid the peasants from having swords, but you can’t forbid them from having agricultural tools, so if they need to fight, they’ll do so using things like threshing flails.
