Nut With Gun at Town Hall

Precisely.

I say all the power to him. I proudly open-carried my S&W M&P 9 mm while attending a local Tea Party Rally. Wish more would do the same.

I see nothing “insane” about those comments. Sounds like something I would say…

Say what?

I can certainly understand why the police might want to have a few words with a guy with a gun standing outside a venue in which the President is speaking, especially given the potential meaning of the wording on the sign. But as he doesn’t seem to have been dragged off to some “Obamanation” re-education camp to become a Marxist, I vote “meh” for the whole issue.

Well, point proven then. Seriously. Seek help.

I don’t think it’s just the gun so much as the combination of gun + sign.

Yeah, man. Death to the New World Order.

For what purpose I may ask?

Where he was asked if the gun was loaded, and replied, “Who would be silly enough to carry an unloaded firearm?”

. . . No. Too easy.

Oops, my bad. I should have mentioned in the OP that it wasn’t carrying the gun it was carrying a gun with a sign saying it’s TIME TO SPILL BLOOD to preserve freedom. I guess the first problem was when the democratic process worked and the wrong person got elected. But if we have enough people with guns who are willing to fix that little problem then democracy will be saved from itself. Because the only way to preserve democrarcy is to kill people when you don’t like the results.

Because he can and America is a free country…for now.

His sports car was in the shop.

Seriously though, you have to carry a firearm in that situation; the place was full of nuts with guns.

It’s a badge, just like a bumper sticker. It identifies him as part of the group and lets him feel like he’s not all alone. It’s the same as all those people who put American flag decals (not stickers - wouldn’t want to ruin the paint) on their cars after 9/11.

Found the Gay Communist Gun Club!

Arresting someone when you know he is not breaking the law is not against the law? How sad.

It wasn’t a death threat. It was an attempt at intimidation I agree, but if it had gone over the line of actually being a death threat, they could have arrested him, since threatening to kill the President is a crime.

My personal theory is that the SS wanted to arrest him, just on general principles, but were stopped by Obama. Anyone remember the guy that got arrested by the SS for refusing to shake Cheney’s hand? How do you thing this guy getting arrested would have went down with the wingnuts? He would not have just been on MSNBC, he would have been on FOX, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, and anywhere else that could get him on. (But not on Comedy Central, they have standards.)

Basically, I agree with Doors. It is a non-issue if you just ignore it.

I have to admit, I also agree with him. If you are going to carry a gun, either concealed or open carry, it would be very silly to not have it loaded. A gun has one function, to fire bullets. If it can’t do that function, carrying it is stupid.

I could get behind that, to be honest. The second is there to defend the first, after all.

And America will still be a free country if the Second Amendment is repealed and privately-owned firearms are banned. After all, the UK is a free country.

It has another function: To frighten/intimidate people. For that purpose, it need not be loaded. Police officers carry guns mainly so that they can be seen to carry guns; a cop who actually has to draw his weapon probably already has made at least one mistake.

The sign did not say that. The hyperbole is unnecessary.

Look, I understand what the hubbub is about. I simply think that it’s nothing to get worked up about. You disagree, fine. I’m sure we disagree on a myriad of topics.

I suppose I must reconcile myself to the fact that this viewpoint will never go away. So be it.

You know the words are from the quote “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants”.

What other possible interpretation is there. Do you think he was a “pro-irrigation” supporter? Maybe that was a hose nozzle in his holster.
