Is it true that the nutrition labels on products sold in the USA is going to be enhanced to show trans-fats come Jan 2006? Also, why does the protein have no %DV? Even when you look at the bottom of the label where it’s explained how things are based on a 2000 or 2500 calorie diet, protein isn’t even listed! Why?
Another WAG: Like fats, not all proteins are created equally, so it makes no sense and may in fact do harm if an overall minimum %DV were instituted. If people were advised to eat at least 15 grams of fat a day, it’d be far more likely they’d gobble up on trans-fat sources such as French Fries than on healthy fat sources such as olives or fish.
