NuVet Plus Dog Vitamins Any Good? Are they Safe?

I’m buying a new dog. The breeder recommends NuVet Plus Dog Vitamins.

I’m hoping someone here has used them.

Are they Any Good? Are they Safe?

I wasn’t sure if this is a scam product or new age mystic crap. Supposedly they are only sold to breeders or their clients. The breeder gave me a discount code to use.

I don’t want to poison the dog or anything.

the breeder says she used them for years. I checked with Google and don’t see any warnings.

What would be the benefits of giving your dog vitamins over giving your dog food that contains all of the vitamins he needs?

I can see maybe giving your dog a vitamin pill if you do an all-raw/all-homemade diet. But I’ve never heard of dogs needing vitamins.

I feed quality dog food with excellent results. Additional vitamins would be a waste at best, a source of excess at worst.

I was thinking the same thing. <shrug> But this breeder shows her dogs and has several champions. The one I’m getting is pet grade. Not a show dog.

Maybe she gets a kickback from Nuvet.

I’m another one who thinks that if you’re feeding a high enough quality food, you wouldn’t need vitamins. What kind of food are you planning to feed? What does the breeder feed?

And, I can’t imagine it would matter but … what breed? Is it some special fancy exotic breed that has some special needs? (Greyhounds don’t handle anesthesia, bulldogs can’t birth naturally … that sort of thing.)

I fed my last dog Iams. It was considered a premium food. But it’s been bought by Purina.

I’ll probably buy Hills Science Diet. My mom uses it and has been very happy.

I do need to ask the breeder what she’s been feeding.

I’m getting a Boston Terrier. Been ten years since my last one.

Just ask the vet when you take the dog in for it’s initial examination. She’ll know what’s best.
