NY AG Letitia James drops the (civil) hammer {On Trump & Family} [9/21/2022]

The appeals court just denied Trump’s lawsuit against Judge Engoron trying to delay the trial from starting next week. Gift link to the NYTimes article.

I would – if I could piss gasoline.

Re: Mar-a-Lago property valuation.
I’d laugh my ass off if the county assessor said, “Oh? the property’s worth $1.8 billion instead of $18 million? My mistake. Here’s your adjusted property tax bill.”

Thank you for the gift link! I get warm fuzzies every time that snake gets told to go pound sand. He’s gotten away with too much for too long.

If anyone happens to see a link to today’s order, could you please post it? I’ve checked all the major news outlets.

Me likey!

If we’re talking to DT: I wouldn’t piss down your throat if your heart was on fire.

Assumes facts not in evidence; does DJT have a heart?

About that valuation of Mar-a-Lago at $1 billion, Donald…

So many Trumpian lies. It’s just difficult for him to keep track of them. Was this one of those backroom things that Eric was supposed to be looking after?

He has one but it’s accompanied by a worthless clause.

Trump has decided not to file to go to federal court in the Georgia case. Onward ms Willis!

Appeals court rules that the trial goes ahead next week.

You know in their private, scholarly, legal minds, the learned justices were thinking: “Oh, fuck off, Trump!”

As a purely precautionary measure, I’d be willing to piss on him if he wasn’t on fire.

Moderating:

Let’s drop the Pit-like commentary in the P&E thread, please. It’s gone on for quite awhile. Time to stop.

And the accompanying footnote:

“10 This statement may suggest influence buying more than savvy investing.”

Seems like, when Florida comes for back taxes on that billion dollar estate, there wouldn’t be much they could argue. Damn, this story is sooo much fun.

How dare you suggest such thoughts would occur to a decision-maker?!

Does anyone know what the remaining five issues are that will be tried, starting Monday?

This ruling just established that Trump is a liar. I think that the remaining five remaining to be decided are as follows.

  1. Whether Trump is a damned liar?
  2. Whether Trump a Goddamned liar?
  3. Whether Trump a Goddamned fucking liar?
  4. Whether Trump a Goddamned fucking pants on fire liar?
  5. Whether Trump a Goddamned fucking pants on fire liar with bells on it?

I expect all five to be found in the affirmative.

Joking aside, I found this

At trial beginning next week, Engoron will consider even bigger penalties that James has requested, among them $250 million in fines, a prohibition on Trump and the company from obtaining new loans by any bank chartered in New York for five years, and a ban on Trump, his adult sons and executives from operating or owning businesses in the state in the future.

So the first ruling killed his current buisiness but it remains to be decided, what fines does he owe and is he restrictions he has in terms of conducting any New York related business in the future.

So - its basically the penalty phase?
