NY AG Letitia James drops the (civil) hammer {On Trump & Family} [9/21/2022]

He’d be an expert at that. After all, he does lie like a rug.

If he gets to be president, it won’t matter. And he can sue to get back his money or grift it back. His empire wasn’t lost, it was “stolen by the Deep State.” I don’t think it will affect his day-to-day life. Maybe I’m falling into defeatism.

Trump said that the difference in cost could also be explained by the roof access, and then “it’s not that far off.” He also said they could have made a mistake and there’s a disclaimer clause for that reason.

“There’s a disclaimer clause where you don’t have to get sued by the attorney general of New York,” Trump said.

the disclaimer clause does not mean what you think it means.

it was the roof, it was the elevators. crazy.

You’re not wrong. Trump’s only strategy here is to win the 2024 presidential election and that’s why he wants to pontificate on politics while testifying. He’s pretty much written off this trial and knows he’s already lost. We’re just watching a wild animal lashing out in its death throes.

Mar-a-Largo could easily be made into a one-family home. According to Trump, anyway.

I’ve had the feeling that once Trump ended up in court for anything serious that this would be the end of him. I think we’re starting to see that now. This is why he was so desperate to stay in power, to insulate himself from things like this.

It’s just going to get worse when he goes to criminal trial later. Especially the one that will be televised.

I’m sure Trump thinks that this trial is just going to be free publicity and is part of his campaign. But I think this is going to really backfire on him.

When he stops being able to display his supposed wealth and power, that will truly affect him, though I agree we’re seeing the first cracks here. Everything is a dominance display with Trump, and finally, those chickens are coming home to roost.

And he’s getting a public ass-kissing from his lawyer who said his answers were “brilliant” and “a great answer.” Sheesh.

Answers under oath aren’t supposed to be “brilliant”. They’re supposed to be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

CNN: “Trump has stopped answering questions, and is just launching into attacks.”

Sounds like he’s panicking as reality gets a firmer grip on him. All he knows how to do is punch back.

he has gone after the ag and the judge now.

ah, the attacks started after he was asked about his thoughts on the trial.

I’m thinking that all he needs is a pair of ball bearings for the full Captain Queeg witness stand appearance.

The elastic has been stretching for a while - are we near the point it snaps? Are we close to a Colonel Jessup moment?

I’m assuming the prosecution is playing him like a Stradivarius by asking that.

Chris Christie on CNN: Trump wishes there were TV cameras in the courtroom. He plays best to them, and thus to his fans watching. He’s pissed because there are no cameras, and he can only play to the judge. Who is not buying his antics.

Person. Woman. Man. Camera. TV. Prison.

[Yeah. It’s a civil trial. Roll w/me, people!]

Lunch break right now. Talking heads analyzing Trump’s remarks. Right now, discussing the size of Trump’s personal real estate holdings (Trump Tower, Mar-a-Lago, 40 Wall Street, and similar).

As an aside, I can appreciate that CNN has bills to pay, but are so many commercials really necessary?

Necessary? Maybe, maybe not. Lucrative when they know they’re airing the Superbowl of 2023 Politics? You betcha.

Well, except for the fact that they aren’t really airing the game. The Superbowl is happening inside a closed stadium with no cameras and they have the color commentators sitting at a desk miles away.

Other than that, captive eyeballs!

msnbc is going in on the political side.
