Yeah, her statement about trying to delay things because the kids were in school was truly clueless.
But who will make them PB and J sandwiches and drive them to school in the mini-van?
True, but are even Trumpoltroon attorneys stupid enough to think that anybody could possibly look at Judge Engoron’s record of bending over backwards and tolerating conduct that would have gotten anybody else tossed into the hoosegow for contempt and grant a mistrial on the those grounds?
Wolfgang Puck.
Michael Schumacher.
I’m afraid so. They’ve really latched onto the whole “I’m not hear to listen to what he has to say” thing. They think the judge is biased and treating Trump unfairly.
Absolutely yes.
See above for quotes from Trump Lawyer Habba, where she whines that the judge is not respectful of Trump’s “authority”, as she says “who is bigger than Donald Trump”
She honestly thinks Trump is a special snowflake, and has more authority than the judge in his current role as loser of an election.
I think a mistrial could mean that the case is dismissed with prejudice, meaning it can’t be restarted. (Unless TV lawyer shows have lied to me.)
Any reports on Ivanka’s testimony? That was scheduled for today, wasn’t it?
She’s been on for an hour and no real time snarking here? Interesting.
Ivanka is being questioned about her attempts to get funding for Doral golf, using her father’s fictitious valuations of his property. From CNN:
Trump attorney Chris Kise objected to the admission of documents related to potential funding that never went through in relation to the Doral property, calling it irrelevant.
Engoron disagreed and overruled the objection.>
Isn’t this like objecting because the bank robbery failed and they didn’t get any money from the vault?
It’s why “attempt” is itself a crime, usually of the same severity as if the attempt had succeeded.
Trump’s team’s objections all boil down to “Objection! Makes my client look guilty”, but they have to try to find a paper-thin legal basis, even if patently ridiculous and transparently non-starting.
I’m curious why it didn’t go through. It would be funny if we found out it didn’t go through because the lender felt the collateral wasn’t worth what they were saying it was.
Ivanka’s testimony is just getting underway, but, as predicted, she’s already a more mature witness than her father was on Monday — not that that’s saying too much — and even than her brothers were last week.
Solomon, the state attorney, is now zeroing in on what he really wants to highlight: The Trumps turned to Rosemary Vrablic of Deutsche Bank’s private wealth management group because they could not secure financing from commercial lenders, including Deutsche Bank’s own commercial real estate group…
Ivanka says she does not recall seeing the commercial real estate group’s proposal nor does she remember, apart from the written proposal, that the terms of their proposal were different from those from the private wealth management group.
a proposal that Ivanka characterized in an internal December 2011 email as, “It doesn’t get better than this.”
Ivanka says the email does not refresh her recollection that she thought the deal terms were good — but that yes, she felt that way.
Jared Kushner introduced her to a banker, Rosemary Vrablic, in the Private Wealth Management group of Deutsche Bank around 2011 or 2012, she said.
Jared might want to watch out for any buses headed his way.
One wonders if Ms Vrablic is on the witness list…
Yup, “no harm, no foul” doesn’t apply here.
Ah, so she’s playing the same card as the rest: “I’m too stupid to remember what my job was or what I did.”
So, for those who blame the banks for failing to do due diligence, despite the fact that that’s irrelevant as a matter of law, many of them appear to have done due diligence.
But like the fight against terrorism, no matter how vigilant you are, they just have to have one success to make a difference.
