Bullshit. Greenblatt is a Trump and Netanyahu stooge, and he’s happy to lie about Mamdani for politics.
The primary was all of 6-7 weeks ago, and Mamdani had visited plenty of Jewish orgs prior. His excuse for lying is beyond bullshit. Fuck lying stooges like Greenblatt.
This is a total quibble, given that the primary ended on June 24, and Mamdani went to a major synagogue on June 6. He’s basically talking about a seven-week period. Meanwhile, he talks about Mamdani visiting mosques–how many, specifically, has he visited in that same time period?
It’s technically untrue what Greenblatt said. His cavilling correction may be technically true, but it’s highly misleading.
I think you’re making fun of me here. I wouldn’t say either of our countries has succeeded in eliminating racism. And I wouldn’t describe someone who put themself through college working part time jobs as either stupid or lazy. But I do think it’s important to make a society that’s fair for and works for ordinary people, not just those who are extraordinarily talented or driven.
And on the subject of the thread, Mamdani’s platform seems to be trying to do this: it’s all about helping ordinary New Yorkers with their biggest problems. I’m skeptical his plans will work, but he’s correct about what issues to focus on.
And also, Greenblatt defended Elon Musk’s Nazi salutes, of all things. He’s only interested in fighting “anti-semitism” (I use quotes to emphasize how dishonest an arbiter he is of what is and isn’t actual anti-semitism) when it aligns with those in power with which he politically supports.
Yes, the ADL is an organization that has built up tremendous goodwill over a century of doing good works, and has now been captured by right-wing trolls who are busily destroying it.
No, not making fun at all. “Eliminated” should read “partially alleviated”, though. And my point was precisely that people who don’t have the motivation or ability to put themselves through college should also be able to find jobs that support a decent standard of living.
Yeah. I mean we want to incentivise everyone to work hard and use their talents, but none of us get to choose how we’re born. “There but for the grace of God” and all that.
An Adams advisor gave a reporter a potato chip bag filled with cash.
The flailing and incompetence against Mamdani is both pathetic and hilarious. I hope this is the first of many dominoes to fall for inept and even malevolent (Cuomo reaching out to Trump, Adams openly corrupt, and still bigwig NY Dems won’t endorse the Democratic nominee for mayor??) current Democratic party leadership. The old folks (Schumer, Pelosi, etc.) need to go. It’s not about age - it’s about being unable to recognize the moment we live in and how to respond.
Many, maybe most, Americans don’t believe that we are a corrupt country because they don’t have to slip the DMV clerk a fitty to complete a routine transaction. Our corruption instead is baked into the very top of the system and now, under an openly grifting presidential administration, is quickly filtering down into the lower ranges of daily life.
The acceptance of it is yet another nail in our democracy’s coffin.
