At this point, it seems to me that our only hope is that they are, the right keeps getting worse and “centrists” keep moving to the right to compensate. Worse, when they get to govern they don’t do much because that would require a certain radicalism that they abhor, in consequence after their terms expire the right (now worse after 4 years of stewing in hate) gets back in government and keeps the handbasket (whose slide the centrists merely stopped) on its merry way to hell.
Lol WTF? Why does Trump even care? Is he afraid Mamdani’s going to tax Trump Tower or something? People have been saying it would be good for the GOP if Mamdani is elected, since they can say the Dems are OMG SOCIALISTS and scare people into voting against them.
People are saying?
I guess the Fat Orange Monster thinks Cuomo will be more willing to do his will. After all, sexual assaulters all hang together, right?
Sure, but the media is always going to try to read the tea leaves (or maybe it’s more of a haruspicy, considering the media) from whatever elections the talking heads can run into the ground in an off year election. State legislature and state court seats. The NYC mayoralty. The Virginia gubernatorial. It’s all pretty pointless until we get to at least this time a year from now, at which point we’ll have a better idea on how Congress will shake out.
Adams isn’t quitting, anyway:
Latest Mamdani post: A Dramatic Reading of The Recent New York Times Dispatch from the Hamptons
This is delightful.
Took me a moment to recognize him from The Gilded Age but that was excellent.
It needed a stronger finish, but overall quite enjoyable.
You know, I’m i think this is it. Trump is a New Yorker, and has lots of property in NYC, and probably has a personal interest in how it’s run.
Felt a bit like he was veering into Our Product Sucks territory.
Don’t buy our product. No really, don’t. It costs a lot, looks like the back end of a geriatric warthog, guzzles fuel by the gallon, tastes of stale cardboard and will make you look like a fool in front of the ladies. This might well be the worst product ever.
At least, that’s what these people say. Do you agree? Perhaps you should try it for yourself and see what the controversy is about!
MD Senator Van Hollen endorses Mamdani and criticizes the cowardice of the senior NY Dems who are refusing to endorse their party’s candidate for mayor:
Good for him.
Maryland Congressman Jamie Raskin endorsed Mamdani, too.
As opposed to the establishment candidates, who have such a great record of beating Trump? I think that a candidate who can convince voters that they actually stand for something would fare a lot better in a national election than the status-quo candidates. OK, sure, they’d get called Socialists! by the right-wing noise machine. That happens to the establishment candidates, too.
NY Gov Kathy Hochul has endorsed Mamdani, in a NY Times editorial on Sunday.
I think you were very wrong and will be for the foreseeable future. On a smaller scale sure but pulling has showed that on national basis being a socialist is death. Certainly amongst Republicans, but also doesn’t look good with Democrats and independents either.
As for Trump, there won’t be another election against him. Biden beat him when the nations memory of how bad Trump was with clearer and his health wasn’t as much of an issue. Trump wasn’t undefeatable and there’s no current Republicans that look undefeatable either. You just can’t put a weak ass candidate up against them.
Certainly amongst Republicans, but also doesn’t look good with Democrats and independents either.
I’m not so sure. Trump has partially nationalized Intel (the largest stock holder is now the U.S. government) and there’s been very little complaint.
Being openly hateful and corrupt polls pretty terribly as well, but somehow Trump overcame it, twice.
Things can change pretty fast in politics, and I’m still amused that anyone can feel anything close to certainty about a political prediction these days.

The fact that I’ve been right a lot over the past ten years makes me more certain. That’s not the same as feeling good about it.
In New Jersey the Republican candidate is using Mikie Sherrill‘s endorsement of Mamdani as a weapon against her. It’s not the only factor but since the endorsement the race continues to tighten. I have a very bad feeling about that election.
