NYC Mayor Eric Adams indicted on federal charges, says NYT

Perhaps a bit more:

Dig this:

What good does it do to resign? Noble, but an empty gesture.

By resigning rather than following corrupt orders, you are acting with integrity and modeling ethical behavior to others. What else should an honest official do?

Refuse to follow orders and get fired.

Resignation is better.

The Thursday Afternoon Massacre continues.

Hey, Trump has loads of respect for the criminal process!

But it’s the same result: bupkis.

We need a whole lot more people refusing to play ball. Noble gestures are a start.

“Adams’s attorneys repeatedly urged what amounted to a quid pro quo, indicating that Adams would be in a position to assist with Department’s enforcement priorities only if the indictment were dismissed.”

Seems like a perfectly normal part of pre-trial negotiations, nothing to see here.

Hmm. I wonder if New York state has any laws about offering consideration to government officials in exchange for a favor.

No reason. Just wondering.

I want to highlight this from an earlier posted link:

I say to someone like this - or like Liz Cheney — or even Mitch McConnell — thank you. Better late then never!

The enemy of our enemy is not our friend….but every little bit helps.

At the end of the day, we need the rule of law to apply. Because if we can’t win then, we shouldn’t win.

But so long as the other side still agrees to the rule of law, we have a chance to win. Get rid of it, and it’s all “Might makes right”. Even if we’re mightier, we still lose.

From his POV that’s a bonus. What lame losers that did not focus their efforts on persecuting his enemies.

Maybe, maybe not. It’s hard to tell. He might take the view that he’s better off, or he may see it as a personal insult and rage about it. It’s not always easy to predict him.

He’ll do both. Ranting about crazy leftist lawyers trying to destroy MAGA and how they’ve been very nasty to him (giving birth instead of following orders? NASTY!), but that’s okay, because now he can MAGA the shit out of their office, and MNYGA.

I think you nailed it.

The resignation count is now at seven:

Not quite. The resignations are steeling much of the Justice Department against AG Pam Bondi and her deputy, Emil Bove (yes, one of Trump’s former defense attorneys). As Jay Kuo noted yesterday:

… there’s another problem of the White House’s own making. By turning on its own Justice Department, the White House has created an atmosphere of fear and mistrust. As Ellen Blain of The Contrarian observed, this could have a negative impact on morale and effectiveness:

While DOJ’s criminal prosecutions get a lot of attention, sometimes we forget that DOJ also represents the United States, its agencies, and its employees in lawsuits when they are sued. So DOJ lawyers have dutifully fanned out across the country attempting to defend the more than 40 lawsuits that have been filed against the administration, all the while seeing friends, colleagues, and supervisors flee or get summarily fired.

This morning, Kuo also posted a helpful synopsis of this week’s events in the Eric Adams case:

And while this is a subjective account, it sounds like the Trump admin is literally humiliating Adams on TV, and not exactly being coy about the quid pro quo.
