O, Canada - where even the firebombers are polite

There’s the stereotype that Canadians are so polite that they apologize when you bump into them.

And then there’s this:

Firebomb victims find a note of apology

Their mum probably was riding their case. “If you firebomb the wrong house, you apologise! That’s how I’ve raised you!”

That’s really sweet. Odd, but sweet.

If you got Constable Benton Fraser on their case, it’d be the politest cop chase ever. Also the weirdest.

I am SO proud.

Will Ferguson tells the story of a woman who’s car goes off the road in California. The car is not visible from the road, after some time she clambers out and up to the highway, but the knock on the head has rendered her unable to remember who she is or what she’s doing there.

First on the scene is a cop who can’t get anywhere trying to figure out what has happened.

But she’s very polite, complies with his every request and is all ‘please and thank you’. He gets to thinking maybe she’s a Canadian, being so polite and all. Checks it out and sure enough, she’s a Canadian tourist, been missing for several hours.

His question was; What, exactly, do they do to Canadians that even with a concussion and unable to remember their own name, their manners will still be intact?

I don’t think I’d mind Cpl Fraser on my case.

God damn I loves me a man in the scarlet and gold.

I wonder what they’ll say when they do firebomb the right house? Will they apologize for the delay?
