Well, Hubby and I took a overnight road trip to lover-ly Ontario over Memorial Day and enjoyed every minute of it.
Everything was neat and clean, people were friendly, the countryside was beautiful. Of course, being near Michigan, the weather sucked and it rained pretty much all weekend. But, hey, we’re used to that.
I do have some questions though:
What is pea-meal bacon and how is it different from back bacon?
Why, god, oh why doesn’t Nestle distribute Coffee Crisp candy bars in the US. Talk about manna from heaven!
Oh, we also liked C Plus Wink soda. Yummers. We bought two huge Coffee Crisp bars for home.
I can’t answer your questions, Bunnygirl, but I love going to Canada. Did you go across at Sarnia, or the Windsor tunnel, or up through the Soo? Whichever, you gotta love the duty-free shops! Single malt scotch with no import tax! Three cheers for Canada!
There’s some nice little towns along the lake, but we especially like Kincardine. A handful of nice B&B’s that charge (three years ago) $65/night CANADIAN, great restaurants, a small lighthouse with a nightly bagpiper, sunsets over Lake Huron, and a bagpipe parade down Main Street every Saturday. Great little weekend getaway, about 120 miles from Sarnia.
I just came in here to mention that just as I scanned through MPSIMS and came across this topic, “O Canada” on the South Park soundtrack started playing on my MP3 player. Weirdest coincidence.
Carry on.
Wait… “I like Michigan. Ann Arbor is beautiful.” Maybe, but you don’t think Detroit’s all that and a bag of chips, do you? 'Cause then you’ve just got a bad sense of taste.
I’m willing to trade some Coffee Crisps[sup]TM[/sup] for some Sharp Cheddar Easy Cheese[sup]TM[/sup], and some decent Canuck margarine for some root beer schnapps.
Paul, Canadians have beer? Gee, who woulda thunk it!
Sorry, no beer. I’m not in any way a beer connisseiur (sp!!!) and wouldn’t know what to buy if my life depended on it.
We did drive up the Huron coastline. We crossed over at Detroit/Windsor and drove up the coast; stayed in Sarnia for the night and stopped at a few provincial parks along the way - even bought a day pass. Lovely, lovely.
You know, as a life-long Detroit metro area resident, I should really take issue with your statement.
Then again, as a life-long Detroit metro area resident, I really can’t take issue with your statement.
Except maybe saying “really a lot” was going too far.
::ssnnnngggcchh:: I’m sorry, I tried to say that with a straight face, really I did!
It’s tough living near a city that looks up to Cleveland as an example of Urban Renewal.
Oh well, at least Canada’s not too far off; and we have good sports teams… ::ssnnnngggcchh::
