Obama announcing death of Osama bin Laden [edited title]

It’s being tentatively reported that he died April 24, but the testing only came through today(DNA testing).

Look at how many other terrorist groups there are all over the world. Al Qaeda was only one of them. There are still dozens of others. It’s not like terrorism is one giant united creature and Osama was the head and now that he’s gone, the whole thing will die. No. That’s not how it works.

One terrorist leader was killed…one…after almost ten years and countless billions of dollars spent, not to mention all the troops killed.

This is a dixie cup of water on the inferno.

Is this supposed to be a surprise? I think this has been the operational assumption by US intelligence for most of the last 10 years.

Well Obama is taking his time (he was supposed to speak at 10:30, but it’s now 11:20 on the east coast and he still hasn’t come on). That and the news broke during “The Apprentice,” which I’m sure will provide some faux-outrage on Fox and Friends tomorrow morning.

Not giving this to Bush, nor to Obama. I’m thanking tens of thousands of service-men and -women who deployed from many countries, left their families behind - sometimes permanently, and hunted down and killed the depraved mother fucker.

Who said different?

Thank you and bless you and your son.

I was saying similar to my husband. I couldn’t put it into proper words. He came up with exactly the right one:

CLOSURE

I have to say my first thought (well second) was that Pakistan finally decided to get off the fence, at least for now.

Killed in Pakistan confirmed by CBS.

They have really crappy HOA’s over there don’t cha know…

But “terrorism” isnt’ a singular thing. Those who use these tactics have a plethora of different motives for using them, some more legit than others.

Still a lot of loose threads, Shayna - but it’s extremely cathartic.

Fox was just saying that people are spontaneously crowding around outside the White House chanting, “USA! USA!”

Talk about a ready made campaign commercial.

Yeah, they don’t allow you to park a cruise missile on the front lawn.

If nobody’s noticed, today is the 8th anniversary of the Bush ‘Mission Accomplished’ speech. And Celebrity Apprentice was pre-empted.

It is, indeed.

Thomas tells me they’re also singing “G-d Bless America”.

I’m still totally overwhelmed.

And don’t even ask about a chain link fence.

ETA: nevermind, crap

Well said, Bricker, from first word to last.

Assuming that’s correct, that tells me just how fake things are on programs like CSI. Because, I’m sure that the DNA tests on this corpse had the highest priority, but it still took a week to complete the tests?
