Obama campaign: arrogant AND stupid!

ETA: ^^^^ heh. Right on!

Doing this makes you look like a dumbass, but at least that makes it consistent with the rest of the post.

smile I’m glad I’m not the only one.

Internet. It’s the Internet.

Do I know you?

Phil? Phil Connors?

Hey now, don’t you tell me you don’t remember me 'cause I sure as heckfire remember you!

BING!

Uh, I (Brit, hoping for an Obama victory) agree with the OP. I saw that ad on Daily Kos and thought “WTF, way to offend a large segment of your target audience, Democrats”!

Beyond tone deaf, it was idiotic, ammunition to the opposition. The portion that should concern pro-O Boy Americans is that the bloody thing got approved. Now were I McC Man, I’d go for the snobby Left angle with it in replying, would play wonderfully to the well-established image of the Am. Left as elitist snobs.

How anyone could have thought that advert was a good idea… (ah wait, someone of the same politics and demographics as much of this board, bingo).

Did you really just use the word “boy” in contemptuous reference to an African-American?

In contrast to calling McCain the McC Man. But it’s the Obama campaign supporters that are arrogant and stupid. Huh.

Oh now I remember. How’s the kids? You know Ted still hasn’t recovered from the banana incident?

It’s a sly way of suggesting that McCain is too old and infirm for the top job.

The discussion we’re having here to the effect that the ad is unfair because of McCain’s injuries, is precisely the one the Obama campaign wants us to have.

It’s hardball politics worthy of Mark Penn or Karl Rove. Take your opponent’s purported strength (the POW/war hero story, and decades of experience in government) and make it a weakness.

It will work. It’s already working.

As far as I’m concerned, if freakin’ Karl Rove says the McCain has gone too far in its ads against Obama, then Barack’s campaign has a looooooooong way to go before it even hits the “sleazy” mark.

Besides, he IS too old, messed up and out of touch to be president, not to mention the four time invasive melanoma situation. Shoot, he won’t release his medical records and that’s a huge red flag to me. My stepdad died of invasive melanoma that recurred in his brain and lungs ten years after the original skin cancer was removed. Dude has one foot in the grave and one foot on a banana peel but it’s somehow not okay to mention this? Aaaaaall RIGHTY, then. :smack:

I’m pretty sure McCain did release his medical records during the primary campaign. See here.

I should also point out that I just found that article through Google, so I may very well be missing something…

No, I used Boy as a jocular reference to a man named Obama. O Boy, McC Man. Plays on the sounds of each. Get a bloody life.

Now, were I an American from your humid and disgusting southern regions, and ref’d to your O Boy as “That Boy” with a certain accent, then perhaps your overly sensitive parts might have point.

In any case, I moderately prefer O Boy to win, as I expect greater fiscal rectitude from him, versus McC Man.

Tis the Faux Outrage season, tralalalala.

“Rectitude”, eh? Pretty close to saying “asshole”! We’re on to you.

Well you are missing that:

Shit, you folks are so worked up about this you don’t know you’ve been WHOOSHED!

You mean you BELIEVE Karl Rove all of a sudden? I don’t know exactly what Rove said, but he probably meant McCain should just play rope-a-dope and just let the Obama campaign attack in increasing frenzy making themselves look even worse. Which is actually the exact right thing to do, and some commentators on the right have said so. I hope McCain listens.

And I can’t believe I’m saying this: On this one occasion, Diogenes the Cynic is absolutely right http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=10193904: “Attacks on Palin only give her more publicity and play into the victim card.” Too bad he goes right on with the attacks anyway.

You mean they put out bullshit because they know people will believe bullshit? I thought Republicans were the only ones that cynical.

As I wrote in the OP, it’s almost too good to be true. McCain could blow it yet.

Note that I said “offices”. A primary campaign is not as harsh as a campaign for office because your fellow party members won’t attack you as hard as your opponents, if for no other reason than not to piss off the rest of their party.

Obama for Illinois state senator: for the primary, his Democratic opponent withdrew. When she wanted back in at the last minute, he could have been a nice guy and withdrawn, but he said no, which was perfectly within his rights. And his district was solid Democratic anyway, so the Republican had no chance.

Obama for US senator: no real competition from the Republicans. Plus, the Republican’s sealed divorce records were illegally leaked, revealing some really sleazy stuff.

Hillary for US senator: Giuliani withdrew, leaving the field to her. Her campaign inexperience is confirmed in that toward the later primaries her speech and general presentation were noticeably more polished. If she had had a real campaign, her rough edges would have already been smoothed off.

Um, you DID notice that there was a link in my post, right? One that went directly to a quote from Karl Rove, along with a video of Karl Rove saying said quote? Guess not–so to help you out, he said this:

As for believing him, I figure nobody knows better than Rove what a lie is or what’s sleazy. He may be a swollen poison toad with a front paw that smells like candidate shit masquerading as human but he does know shit from shinola when it comes to lies and skankiness.

OK mate, it’s your funeral.

Oh, I’m not an American either.

He released his records to 30 selected reporters. They were not allowed to take them. They were not allowed to photograph them. They had 3 hrs to read them. then were ushered out. They were 1157 pages long. Is that full disclosure where you live?
