I always wonder how many of them know the real words to “Family Tradition”.
Earplugs! If you don’t have any, go and buy some tomorrow, it won’t be the last time you’ll need them.
I live close to a place where outdoor rockconcerts are often held. I wouldn’t be able to do my job in daytime if it weren’t for earplugs.
Seriously, he lives by the fairgrounds, which must presumebly hold a fair every once in a while. And I’ve never seen a single fair shut down for the night before 11. Most go until midnight or 1.
:smack:That was directed at ThisSpaceFor Rent, obviously.
I guess I’d be a little pissed if 90,000 people showed up in my backyard.
But then again, I don’t live next to a fairgrounds.
I didn’t get home until past 8 - I left the office at just past 5. My wife had to tell me to quiet down in front of the kids, who were just heading to bed - and in retrospect they really didn’t need to hear me ranting about Nuremberg rallies.
This wasn’t a Nuremberg rally at all - you can bet the Nazis would have planned the traffic better.
(I am kidding - but I was testy last night. I don’t like to miss dinner with my family or my kids’ bedtime without a good reason, and this wasn’t one.)
If it makes you feel any better, I’m an Obama supporter who will be fighting against the flow of humanity headed downtown tonight. I got an invite for the big party but hey, I’m not as young as I used to be and I do have to work tomorrow, so I’m going home. Eventually.
Give him a break folks. Geez, he’s frustrated by the noise on a Monday night, he probably wants to sleep and he wants to vent. He said he voted for Obama, so it seems to me that he is honestly just tired and frustrated. I hardly think he deserves some of the nonsense he is getting in this thread.
Yeah, that motel 6 parking lot is gonna be PACKED!
Hey, I’ll have between 500,000 and a million people in my front yard tonight, I’m sure I won’t be getting much sleep.
Oh yes sir…cause here in the pit everyone is always kind and civilized…:dubious:
spare me…the OP comes in whining about NOISE coming from a FAIRGROUNDS and it was ALMOST 10pm…kinda like being PO’d bout the noise from fireworks on 7/4 isn’t it?
tsfr
Off topic, but there was a story in the Washington Post a few years back about somebody who tried to get a permit to run a massage parlor in Manassas but the permit was declined. The zoning board denied it but the guy claimed that the permit was denied because he was gay and the Manassas zoning board was homophobic.
Anyway, the original Post headline before they realized and changed it was “Gay Masseuse Divides Manassas”.
I am supposed to be working but was procrastinating reading the SDMB. The unabashed stupidity of this thread has driven me back to the responsibilities of my job. Thanks, ThisSpaceForRent!
That’s a negative. The fair was this summer (you know, when the kids don’t have to get up for school at 6am), only went until 10pm during the week and the tractor pulls and what not were saved for the weekend and those were also done by 10pm.
I also think many of the posters here who do not live in NoVA are picturing a different type of fairgrounds. This one is not terribly large that normally accommodates 10’s of thousands of people. If you lived here and knew where it was positioned in town you would see that it is not located in a place suitable for these types of gatherings.
He stopped talking about 1115 last night. Then the lights shut off and they left.
That is too late for something so loud outdoors in a heavily populated residential area. I really don’t care that some of you can’t see that or don’t agree.
Then quitcherbitchin, pretend you have a date, and get a room…!
Or is Chicago not only too loud past your bed time, but fresh out of hotels …?
