It could be his typical end of year presser. But with the slow drip of Russia news coming out all week, I’d guess Obama comes out and gives his holiday statement and then takes questions - the first of which will certainly be about Russia, and at that point he’ll get into it.
But just because the description doesn’t outright say what will be discussed doesn’t mean it won’t. Haven’t you ever seen a preview description for a hot “no spoilers” type tv show? It’s not like they’re going to tell you “Season finale: Tony dies”.
We’ll see this afternoon, but w/ the EC voting on Monday and the news coming out all week about the Russia hacking. I think we’re going to get something more than a “Happy Holidays” from Obama today.

It’s amazing to me how many people try to dismiss this as business as usual.
Maybe the US has done it in the past but most of the people threatened with loss of health insurance or social security, or loss of their civil rights, had nothing to do with that. The entire human race does not deserve destruction of the climate because if that.
How can seemingly intelligent people believe that saying the magic words “get over it” will actually cause people who are personally threatened to get over it?

LOL. There’s no way that a four or eight year Trump administration is going to do much one way or the other to “destroy the climate”. Let me ask you for three numbers:
- current CO2 level in the atmosphere
- expected level if Trump does his damndest to “destroy the climate” in 8 years
- expected level if Hillary had won and done her best to reduce CO2 emissions 8 years from now
What exactly do you think a press conference is?
BTW, from everything I’ve seen so far, Obama has been completely gentlemanly and forthcoming in the transition process and has, at least in public, accepted that Trump will be POTUS.
You can say that about any 8 years, sure. That’s why it’s called “long-term” climate change. Which 8 years would you say would be the right ones to take action? Just for the sake of argument, let’s say we’re having this conversation 40 years from now, (that’s not too long, 8 years is 20% of the way there) and Florida is underwater. Is that the right time? Or would you say: “whups, too late, time to move on.” (Don’t mistake my tone: I’m saying this tersely, but I’m genuinely curious).

I think that anyone who expects anything truly explosive is going to be disappointed. Do we have any idea where David Yankovich is getting his information from?
A lot of us (myself included) are desperate for some earth-shaking change - some constitutional fix for an apparent foreign coup attempt that may have changed the outcome and caused the election of someone we see as an unqualified buffoon who buys into some of the right’s worst conspiracy theories and who shows an unsettling attitude of approval of Vladimir Putin.
That makes us desperate to grasp at things like these Yankovich tweets. But Obama hasn’t shown any apparent interest in trying to overturn the election. If anything he’s shown just the opposite.
What is this Cold War 2 the left is enthralled by? The US deals with a lot of unsavory characters.

No, why would he burn his sources publicly? In the tweet reply thread to his tweets on the matter were replies from some other journalists confirming that they were hearing similar things from their sources on the hill.
