You see, it’s important because the implication is that he received an education in the Muslim faith. (Although why that would be a bad or unAmerican thing is entirely unclear.) Nevertheless, there are people who mistakenly believe that his attendence at that school translated into his conversion to Islam. He was, in fact, religiously agnostic (as was his mother) until he became a Christian.
