I’m willing to fork over the $14.95 to get him on the board. Heck, I’ll get him a CHARTER MEMBER descriptor if I can find that damn price list around here somewhere.
Think of the threads!:
“Ask me about being President”
“What’s Sarah Palin really like”
“Ask me what’s in the [football]” (I’ll bet there is a Homer Simpson Pez dispenser)
Okay, your turn - more threads you would like to see and his USERNAME
Much as I would love to chat with him, once he’s sworn in as President, it’s entirely likely he won’t even have an email address. Too dangerous to be hacked, so no more electronic communication (including his beloved Blackberry!!) after January 20th.
And it doesn’t say this in the article, but it was reported on MSNBC that his entire family will have to give up emailing. That’s gonna be a real bummer, since they’re moving so far from close friends, and email is the easiest way to keep in touch.
I don’t know why, but I had this weird image of an Onion-esque advice column, Ask the First Black President, where people write in and ask advice on various common problems, but all he can respond about is what it’s like to be the first Black President.
Dude, not having e-mail would suck. I get why, though. How’s he gonna send his friends funny pictures of monkeys scratching their nuts, or whatever? It’s a good think the girls are on the young side. Can you imagine a high-schooler not being able to use e-mail?
I would think that it’s time for the WH eggheads to figure out a way for the most powerful guy in the world to bust out with a Gmail every now and then.
I suspect that the Pres can have someone send an e-mail for him, right? Like Valerie Jarrett can send you an e-mail saying, “The President wants your ass to show up on time for the cabinet meetings, Hillary.” Or something like that.
Not only is Barack Obama a comic book geek from Chicago, he’s also one of the smartest and hippest people on this continent. I’d say the odds are good. (Relatively speaking.)
Guess we’ll have to see which Chicagoan stops posting after January 20th, won’t we?
The odds Obama has seen the Chicago Reader? Probably > 85% that he has seen it.
Probability Obama has been the the Chicago Reader Website? Not sure.
Probability Obama knows a doper personally? >95% IMHO.
I’m sure he loved our Fork threads. I’m looking at YOU Shayna!
How can they stop him from using email (and who are “they”, anyway)? He administers the law, no? I understand why they don’t want affairs of state on email, but personal email to friends? And his wife and kids? They won’t know any secrets.
I agree. I am supportive of keeping presidential emails public, and the issue of communications being hacked is important, but it seems to me that cutting a president off from email these days is just a recipe for keeping a president detached from the life everybody else is living.
For the record, unless the prezelect has already been a member for a few years and kept paying, you can’t buy him a Charter Member title. For a screen name, though, I’d bet on GoGo White Sox.
Maybe not, but anyone who hacks his personal email account will know their secrets, like: their schedules, their habits, the entrance and exit the kids use at the school, their greatest fears, etc. I can see how that could be a problem.
