Obama to appear on O'Reilly tonight

I come at this from the other other side in that I was already impressed with Obama and ready to vote for him but had never watched O’Reilly in action before, and I have to say Papa Bear came off as much more respectful, fair, and downright likable than I expected. Yeah, he interrupts a lot and shows an obvious bias, but Obama was still able to say his piece and get his point across.

I still loathe Rush Limbaugh, for what it’s worth.

Could anyone admit to liking Rush?

My main problem with O’Rly is his twisted view that these far-left sites are somehow worse than stuff from the far right. The Daily Kos thing was the most laughable part. Obviously Obama is only tangentially familiar with the site or he could have explained to BillO the difference between “dailykos” and “a blogger at dailykos.”

I suspect Obama knows how Daily Kos works, but he also knows that there’s no point in explaining that to O’Reilly. To him, Markos Moulitsas is Satan, Hitler, Stain, Vlad the Impaler, Celine Dion, and every other imaginable abomination rolled into one, and he personally approves every syllable posted to the site. Any attempt to explain that to O’Reilly or his viewers would be read simply as, “Obama is defending Daily Kos!”.

I wish the media would pick up on this and goad McCain into taking on some unfriendly interviews. (Rachel Maddow would be excellent.) Or to point out that wunderkind Sarah Palin had to be bludgeoned over the head before she did an interview for 20/20.

I just wish O’Reilly would interview Palin the same way he interviewed Obama, and not let up on her any more than he did on Barack.

Now, that would be fun to watch. Never happen, though. I seem to recall O’Reilly commenting after the Obama interview that he’d like to do one with Palin, but I can’t imagine her handlers allowing that, can you?

Hilarious. So instead of giving Obama credit for verturing into the lion’s den as it were, you turn it into a negative thing because he’ll “never step foot in a Fox studio again?”

When you think of it, I doubt O’Reilly would have treated McCain the same way. So yeah, he was grandstanding. Obama didn’t really deserve the scrutiny. It’s good, though, that Obama addressed all the objections the right have of him. This should shut their mouths.

I wondered that myself, so youtubed a recent McCain interview. It was like two different interviewers- very few interruptions, a relaxed O’Reilly who would sit back or lean back and let McCain give very long (comparatively) answers.
