I will vote anti-republican under any circumstances. Whoever has the best chance keeping a republican out of office gets my vote.
I voted for Obama in the primaries, but in the very unlikely event that he fails to be nominated, I will vote for McCain. I’ve always liked him, and although his recent pandering to the right-wing has been unseemly, I’m hoping he’ll move back to the middle when the conventions are over.
Unlike lot’s of Obamaphites, I believe he has a 50-50 shot of getting the nomination. If he loses, I vote for Hillary. Here’s why:
- Hillary’s and Obama’s stated policies are very close.
- If Obama loses, he will support the Democratic nominee.
- McCain the Maverick appears to have been replaced with McCain the Conservative kowtower.
- I don’t relish the possibility of yet another Republican nomination to the Supreme Court
- One of Bill Clinton’s greatest skills and accomplishments is his success with the economy. Wouldn’t mind having his influence in the White House given the recession.
That said, I still want Obama’s vision and pragmaticism in the Oval Office.
