If your Democrat of choice loses the nominee; will you vote for the other?

Curious, I ask because I saw on the news today that they might be hinting at the possibility of sharing the democratic ticket.

I can’t help but think this is a terrible idea. Splitting up the democratic vote would almost certainly insure a McCain win.

Thoughts?

How would this be bad? It seems to be it’s the opposite…I want Obama to win, but I’ll certainly vote for Hillary if Obama is her running mate (though I’d vote for her even if he wasn’t, so I guess I’m not your target audience.) If you want one or the other to win, but they lose, then at least you can get a consolation prize with them being VP. Whereas if your candidate loses, and ISN’T the running mate, you might not vote at all, or maybe vote for a third party candidate, which would help McCain/hurt the dems.

Yellow dog D here. I will vote for either but am not crazy nuts about either; I dislike Obama less.

Not a chance. If Obama doesn’t win I’ll vote for McCain early and often. Even if Clinton is Obama’s VP I’ll vote for McCain, for I’d almost go so far as to suspect she’ll grab power from Obama one way or another.

I could probably be convinced to vote for Clinton against McCain, but I won’t like it.

I’ll vote for either.

I will not vote for McCain in any situation and in any ticket combination with a Clinton I will not give a vote either. So if Clinton is involved, I will have to vote 3rd party… Green, Libertarian or Communist.

My bad, I thought they were talking about vote for either Clinton or Obama for President. Not as a team.

Either/both. I’d prefer Obama, but I vastly prefer either of them to McCain.

Just put “Obama” in instead of Clinton’s name, and that’s pretty much how I feel.

Not exactly living up to your name, are you? :stuck_out_tongue:

Of course.

I’ll also show up in the local campaign office, flyer, call, post signs, stuff envelopes, and annoy other people into going to vote for whichever Democrat ends up on the ballot.

I have a slight preference for one over the other … but it’s not a strong preference and I’m much happier with anyone with a “(D)” after their name than any of the Republicans.

Whoever I have to vote for to get the Republicans out of the Executive Branch for awhile, that’s who I’ll vote for.

I’m a big Obama fan, but I’ll vote for Hillary if she gets the nomination. I don’t particularly love her on a personal level, but I think she’d do a good job. Even if I didn’t, I still wouldn’t vote for McCain – the past eight years are far too fresh in my mind for me to even consider voting Republican, even a moderate Republican like him. I’d probably go and write in “none of the above”. (I always vote.)

Same here, and if there’s any whiff of chicanery with the superdelegates, I’ll stay home.

I’m an Obama supporter. However, I will vote for Hillary if it comes to that simply so the reign of theocracy stops temporarily. And no, that’s not aimed at Republicans in general, but instead comes from an intense hatred (for many reasons) of Bush.

I’m a Clinton supporter, but I don’t dislike Obama, so he would get my vote, rather than McCain.

Me too.

My order of preference:

  1. My Dem candidate of choice
  2. The other Dem candidate with my candidate of choice on the ballot
  3. McCain
  4. The other Dem candidate without my candidate of choice on the ballot

Based on the current landscape, I will do one of the following (in order of preference):

  1. Vote Obama
  2. Vote McCain
  3. Write in vote my deceased grandfather
  4. Stay home and drink whiskey

I won’t vote for Hillary.

Jammer

I won’t vote for Hillary. I’m not a Democrat, I’m a progressive liberal. The Dems are the closest we get to the government I’d like to see in power. I usually vote for them, but I can’t bring myself to vote for Clinton.

Neither Clinton or McCain are progressive. I didn’t like the first Clinton either. I’ve never voted for a presidential candidate who actually won, so I won’t feel odd voting for some fringe candidate, should Hillary somehow head the Dem’s ticket.

I’d have serious problems with an Obama/ Clinton dual ticket, but I’d probably vote for it.
