Obama vs Slick Willie 2016

In this threadon repealing the 22nd amendment, it seems that the underlying concern would be making Obama president for life. But this got me thinking that it would also apply equally well to WJ Clinton, whose presidency many still have fond memories of. I don’t think any of the other living presidents (GW. Bush, GHW Bush, Carter) would be politically viable at this point.

So the questions are, in the extremely unlikely event that the 22nd amendment gets repealed and both Obama and Mr. Clinton put their hats in the ring in 2016, who would you vote for and who do you think would win.

Note: the poll combines the two questions into one poll. If you wish to participate please vote once for each part.

Obama would win easily. He has incumbency, youth, and popularity on his side. Clinton is also very popular, and even though he’s not super old by any means - his health issues would be a huge drag on him.

Ooops title should read 2016 not 2012.

Can a Moderator change it please

I would vote for Clinton, who would win. I like Obama, but he can’t explain shit like Clinton can. Bill was able to work with a hostile Congress, but to be fair no president has had as hostile a Congress as Obama has.

I would vote for Obama, cuz he inhaled. I liked it when he was asked about smoking mj and if he inhaled. And he replied, well, gee, that’s the point, no?

If I could only vote between those two I would pick Clinton. He would steal Republican ideas, sign Republican passed bills, and call them his own, but things would get much, much better.

Aside: It turns out that Clinton really didn’t inhale. He preferred his pot in brownie form.

If we’re going to be amending the Constitution, I’d prefer to see it amended so that Arnold Schwarzenegger could run for president. Then I’d vote for him.

Of course, if we did that, then what would the birthers have to complain about?

I’m sure they’d have fun screaming that they were right all along and the ammendment got passed only to cover Obama’s ass. Indeed, it was no doubt passed because the birthers were about to come up with convincing proof any minute now.

Aside from “who would win”, I am Carnivorousplant, and I approve this message.

sigh I love Bubba and would vote for him again, but Honey Boo Boo did outpoll his speech to the DNC. Obama does some good speechifying, too, but Clinton would have Newt Gingrich leave meetings thinking they agreed on an issue where Bill hadn’t budged. Boy can sing the birds right out of the trees, he can, but it would be a step down from his present job as President of the World.

Still, Bubba for the win. Shit, there’s as many of us in favor of Hillary running because it will bring him back into our lives as there are people against her for the same reason.

Wait, I agree with Starving Artist on something. Write that down!

I think Arnie would be a superb president. I really do.

I don’t have a vote but I’d be inclined to vote for the guy who doesn’t have fairly legitimate claims of rape levelled against him.

My first thought was not of Clinton, but local brilliant weasel Willie Brown. Folks around these parts were in the habit of calling him “the REAL Slick Willie” during the 1990’s. His political skills were quite Clintonesque - man was a master of political maneuver in his heyday.

But he’s way too old now for me to vote for him in 2016 ;).

Well, given that Schwarzenegger’s walking around free, making movies and showing up on the Tonight Show and so forth (perhaps you caught him on the Tonight Show Monday night…got a standing ovation from much of the audience), I’d say that whatever claims you’re referring to must not be all that legitimate or he’d have been brought up on charges by now.

I must say it’s amusing to see rape charges leveled at Arnold Schwarzenegger being brought up in a thread regarding Bill Clinton. I’d be very interested to know your take on Clinton’s blatantly misogynistic and sexually predatory behavior toward women, plus your take on the character assassination he and his henchmen visited upon any woman who dared speak up about the way he’d accosted or carried on with them (occasions known in Clinton circles as “bimbo eruptions”), and whether your views on Clinton’s behavior jibes with your views on Schwarzenegger.

But getting back to Schwarzenegger, here’s his appearance on The Tonight Show Monday night. Especially interesting were his comments on the deficit, New Jersey in the wake of the hurricane and Congress itself. Then listen to the applause he gets. I’m thinking the guy still has political ambitions and really resonates with people. He claims an amendment isn’t doable but who knows with that guy. Given enough time to speechify like that and drum up support he might just pull off the presidency yet.

Uh, dude’s 65. He doesn’t have enough time for that to happen.

The odds are against him certainly, but the odds have been against him in everything he’s accomplished in his life. A lot can happen in eight to twelve years. He does weights and cardio every day, eats a healthy diet, will probably be in better shape in his mid-seventies than most people are at fifty. I saw a video of him giving a talk recently and during a Q & A session toward the end someone asked him how much weight he could lift now and he said the week before he’d lifted 390 lbs. He didn’t say whether that was a deadlift or bench press or what, but still. (And that’s after cutting back on his weight training per doctor’s orders due to a heart valve replacement in the late 90’s.)

Besides, it’s physically impossible for someone in that physical condition to rape someone.
