I don’t know about this particular case, but it’s far more likely than not for right wingnuts to believe that there were no significant attacks during the GHW Bush, and especially the Reagan, administration.
It might be slipping out of the memory window now, but 20 years ago, it was extremely common for Reaganophiles to claim that Reagan’s air strikes on Libya were in retaliation for Qaddafi blowing up the airliner over Lockerbie, and that after those air strikes, Qaddafi saw what a tough guy Reagan was and ceased his belligerence. In fact, the attack over Lockerbie was two years after the air strike that allegedly killed Qaddafi’s adopted daughter.
Maybe it wasn’t a whoosh. I figured Watchwolf 49 was asking for a cite for this part of Chimera’s post:
