Do you have any idea how a debate works? You can’t just throw unsupportable and many-times debunked nonsense in a thread and not attempt to support it. That is to say you can if you want, but doing so is a poor debating technique.

My personal associates who have died… well, a few years I did a little list of funerals I’ve attended. I was dismayed that at the tender age of 38 ( or thereabouts), I had known 45 or so people well enough to stand graveside. More than 1 a year if we started from birth - and I didn’t. I started my count from age 9.

Agreed, but I think how we go about it matters. We didn’t run up this debt in four years and we won’t pay it off in four years, either. Like personal investing we need to get time working on our side; start when you’re young, save a little bit a month, and keep at it. I’d like to see us do the same with the national deficit. Bring it down a bit in the next fiscal year, and the one after that. And when we get down to a balanced budget, keep at it. Run a small surplus to start paying down the debt; build up our credibility so that when a crisis hits and we need to borrow, we can. It should be a prolonged, disciplined, responsible approach. This thing we’ve been doing for decades where the deficit is a crisis, then no big deal, and then a crisis again is just not the way to do it.
And to the OP, that’s one of the reasons I like the current administration.
