So why have they sent me 3 emails this week warning me of an upcoming deadline (tomorrow)? Aren’t I enrolled in my current plan, which I just paid the premium on 2 weeks ago? Why do I need to enroll again, every single year?
No answer to this question on their web site.
You can only change plans during the enrollment period too, I believe (at least that’s how it is with employer health insurance). So they want you to know that if you want to choose a different plan, you’ve got to do it now.
My employer makes us re-enroll every year in October because we are given different options. Peoples situations change and their level of insurance may need to change. So it’s not just an Obamacare thing it’s a grown up/responsibility thing, like having to pay taxes every year or enrolling for classes every year.
And it’s possible that your current plan may be getting canceled, like what happened to me. They have more than doubled my premiums since I first signed for for insurance 2 or 3 years ago, and I’m not too happy about it.
The policy I signed up for was for 12 months. When the 12 months were up, I had to sign up again if I wanted it for another 12 months. But I didn’t, because my spouse just got a new job with health insurance there.
