It’s hard to read all of them. They’re so hysterical and badly capitalized it just shuts down the brain. So yeah, I think if you find the ones you would like factual answers to, you’d get better responses.
:dubious: Waitaminnit – you posted this, not to mock the mentally crippled, but on the assumption that some of these charges are actually debatable?! Is the issue for debate supposed to be, “Is Barack Obama a liar?” Get serious. There ain’t no baby in this tub, just stinky water.
As I pointed out, at least one of the criticisms is accurate, so apparently there is at least some discussion to be had.
Horseshit. See post #19.
See, and now we’re debating. Good thing the OP had the forsight to post in this forum
But I think Baldwin’s being too generous in post #19. Obama references other civil rights events in the speech, but he attributes his conception (or at least his mother’s decision to bring it to term) directly to Selma, which is a chronological impossibility.
If the question is, will this be effective on idiots- I believe I come down squarely on “YES”.
Otherwise, it’s mostly opinion so it’s hard to debate if these things are actually “lies” as opposed to differences of opinion (IMHO, one of the opposing opinions is batshit).
I would not worry about such things on a massive scale until they become part of the non-internet dialogue. As far as combating them, how can you? People who will not vote for Obama anyway are looking for information to support their decision- this is who this is targeted at. You can’t argue probably 45% of those LIARbites in any way that would be effective.
People who are genuinely independent will examine Obama’s positions and his character themselves, and will either support him or they will have honest disagreements with him and support his opponent. Anyone who would be convinced by this is already a lost cause.
Obama claims to have won Michigan (#32)?
See, that’s the problem. Except for the speech mentioning Selma, we have no independent verification that Obama actually ever said any of these things, quite apart from whether they are true or false. Snopes is on the case; I expect they’ll find many of these quotes are either made up or distorted.
I meant 75% here.
LIAR! you wrote 45 PERCENT!!!exclamationpoint
Yeah, he’s clearly tying the whole theme together there. It’s unquestionably true that his father came over because of the airlift, and as the speech works, while it’s true that he was born before Selma, he’s talking about that era as the Moses generation. The Joshua generation, his generation, is going to lead people to freedom, but it would be nowhere without Moses. And vice versa. You need both, and you can’t ignore either.
So, I deem that one to be quoting out of context.
This is fun! Let’s pick another one!
In an attempt to save this thread, I’m going to delete all of the ones about what his non-immediate family members did; what people feel, believe, were moved to do, etc.; the effectiveness of his healthcare plan or caucuses, etc.; and others that are opinions or simply irrelevant.
My brother is particularly interested in the last part of #48
I would like to discuss the following: (feel free to link to other threads)

“UN-altered REPRODUCTION and DISSEMINATION of this IMPORTANT Information is ENCOURAGED, ESPECIALLY to COMPUTER BULLETIN BOARDS.”
As for #18, the University of Chicago says that “professor” is an accurate (or at least not misleading) term for Obama’s position:
Here you go, Snopes on this one.
To elucidate, here are a few others who voted with Obama on this:
Brownback (R, KS)
Hagel (R, NE)
Specter (R, PA)
Graham (R, SC)
Stevens (R, AK)
**McCain (R, AZ) **
Traitors all, I presume?
Also, what in the damnhell does the call have to do with the response here?
A bunch of Keystone cops. The LP’s political strategies since the 1980s have been pathetic, and their tactics laughable. The RP now, same same.
31.) I Didn’t Run Ads In Florida - LIAR, you allowed National ads to run 8-12
times per Day, for TWO weeks - and you still : Lost .
You cannot buy National ad time and ask them to leave out Florida. It doesn’t work that way. Also, The South Carolina Democratic Party became recognized as the gatekeeper for the pledge not to campaign, and the Obama campaign checked with them to make sure that a national ad buy wouldn’t violate the pledge, and they were assured it would not.
Also, I call bullshit that he ever said “I Didn’t Run Ads In Florida”.
I found the Selma speech by Googling “Obama Selma”. Granted some of the quotes may be too difficult to find (or are fabricated completely), but I don’t think it’ll be too hard in most cases.
Moving on to number two, Obama and goat herder are an infrequent enough combination that google quickly finds us the correct speech.
The relavent quote is:
And that one isn’t at all contradicted by the fact that he later went to Harvard and worked for the government of Kenya. Somehow I don’t think the people who wrote this have a lot of contacts in Kenya who refuted Obama on this point.
I agree, I can’t really find anything about the financial straits of the Obama family in Kenya during his fathers childhood. His (Senator Obama’s) grandfather was apparently wealthy enough to support a household with multiple wives and children, but that doesn’t mean he was wealthy by current American standards or that his sons weren’t made to take care of the goats.
Perhaps she had post-partum depression that was left untreated for several years until the events at Selma (or someone named Selma) convinced her not to kill her young son. Didn’t think of THAT, didja?
