I have to say that I’m surprised that this T would leak secrets like that. That’s out of character for a veteran KGB agent. Why would she want to risk exposing the Soivet plant in American politics?

Unless she was actually planting disinformation - falsely claiming somebody was a Communist agent in order to advance the career of the real Communist agent. Somebody whose credentials as an American patriot were unquestionable. Of course it would have taken years to brainwash a person like that into becoming a Communist agent. The Communists would have had to somehow have had this man under their control for an extended period so they could work on him. Like in that movie The Manchurian Candidate where they brainwashed an American serviceman in a Communist POW camp. If we could just find some Presidential candidate who fit that profile we’d know who the real double agent is.

A black man as a Communist tool? That would be too obvious. The real Communist plot would be to assure the ascendancy of a WASP from Greenwich who graduated from Phillips Exeter, was a Bonesman at Yale and received an MBA from Harvard Business School. No one could ever imagine that such a man could screw up the country.
