Only cool if some of his friends rigged up a few strings to move his arm and make it look like he’s saying “gotcha ya!”
I second this. I’m not going to comment on the tackiness of such displays, but they’re pretty common here in Arizona and have been for years.

I suggest hiring a sign-twirler for extra impact during afternoon drive time.
So wait, does that mean they buried the car? Cuz that would be awesome!
(But if anyone does that do me, I will be haunting their ass also.)

I have been seeing more and more of these-people are putting their loved one’s obits on the rear windows..with a portrait of the deceased.
When did this start?
Kinda strange..but I suppose its a good way to advertised the deceased.

I’ve seen those for at least six years in the Mission district in San Francisco.
Heh, another of those Inexplicable Things People do to Automobiles, along with:
-
Hispanic last names in Olde English lettering across the back windows of pickup trucks
-
Old white Hondas with the hoods painted in gray primer
-
Conestoga-sized wheels mounted with gumband tires (usually seen on a Ford Crown Vic painted a candy metallic color)
-
Stick-on fake Buick-style portholes
-
fake wire wheels that stick out about a foot on each side.
Hadn’t noticed the rolling obits before; will have to keep an eye out for that.
I hate fake portholes with a passion.
Don’t come to Houston then. I swear to God I’ve seen those things on mail trucks.
Well, no. I’m probably exaggerating. But just a little.
FYI: You better pray that I die first 'cuz I am SO doing all of that.
Whenever I’m behind a vehicle with an obit rear window, I always feel like “Why are you telling me? WHY are you telling ME?!?!”
Fake portholes? This thread is just full of
. I don’t know whether to be proud of my community, or embarassed that we’re so behind the times. . . .
OK, yes, I guess there is* a sneak brag in there somewhere. . .
They always remind me of the little opera window our Pinto wagons had. Awwww. Those were good little runners. And to nip the comments in the bud, it was the runabout/hatchback from 71-73 w/ the iconic ‘design flaw’.
Frankly, I don’t care what people decorate their vehicles w/, what bugs me is when two people block the neighborhood roads both ways in order to talk whilst wearing their vehicles like armor against each other or maybe they’re supposed to be some symbolic rolling wallet.
In the course of trying to find out what these fake portholes look like, I found this:

Which is weirdly wonderful.
I also found this:
Which is so far beyond pathetic that I am at a loss. . .
ETA: I’m still not getting the whole fake porthole thing. Are they meant to look like actual windows? Or is it thes elittle things in a row over the fender?
That fake sunroof blew me away-I HAVE a car with a factory-installed sunroof.
It is the most worthless accessory ever made-in 3 years, I think I have opened it twice!
I miss my sunroof more than I can say. I dilike convertibles because they blow my hair into my eyes. When you work all day indoors though, it’s nice to at least start and end with the sun on your head. With a Celtling in the back seat though, it’s just too much wind to leave it open. ::sigh::
My thought is what do you do when you sell the car? Do you leave it on there and let the new owner scrape your loved ones memory off? Or do you do it yourself? Either way seems fairly disrspectful to me.
I just wonder what goes through your head as you scrape off little Bobby’s rememberance. “sorry Bobby, but I got $4k for this car and I loved you, but you know I gots bills to pay”
Perhaps ordered by the judge to be placed on the car of the guilty driver?
I don’t know about fake potholes - we have enough real ones, I think.
I know there’s a cash for clunkers joke in there somewhere.
On a crucified teddy bear?
