This may belong in IMHO, but because it is about the movies, I’ve put it here.
Does anyone still enjoy the obligatory chase scenes long standard in action movies? Why are they still a part of movies?
I usually rent movies and one of the reasons I do so is so that I can fastfoward through the chase scenes.
Worse yet is the obligatory fruit stand knockover.
They’re a good way to try and excite people visually - some of these directors DO have visual skills - without that stuff getting in the way, whatsitcalled… dialogue, character, plot, etc., since most of them suck at that, and the writing is usually poor as well.
A good chase scene can be quite entertaining (see the ones in “The Italian Job”). But many are just by the numbers.
