OK, a few years ago I read Rosenbaum and Hoberman’s book Midnight Movies. One of the movies it led me to check out was a late sixties, early seventies movie that takes place in some post-apocalyptic future. It’s mostly about a couple–male and female–who live in this largely rural semi-utopia, and occasionally have run-ins with Mad Max-like motorcycle gangs. Oh, and they’re usually naked; lots of casual, full-frontal hippie nudity. The title, if I remember right, was the two main characters’ names: “Somebody and Somebody.” Obviously I can’t search via “and,” and the text search at Amazon using various keywords has produced nothing.
Anyone have any idea what movie this might have been? Or do I have to buy another copy of the book?
Assuming that’s right: don’t ya love this f&ckin’ place?
Dang. 14 minutes! Did you know that answer, or is your searching skill greater than mind?
I actually happened to know the movie-- I bought it years ago on laserdisc without knowing what it was. It stands out in my mind for the same reasons it stood out in yours: hippie nudity, post-apocalyptic scenario, etc. Strange film.
Awesome. You know you could probably get a pretty penny for that disc on eBay; it’s totally available, even as a bootleg.
I’ve thought about selling it on occasion. The last time I saw one for sale was a few years ago, when it was going for about $100. I’m out of the LD collecting loop now, though, so I wonder if prices remain high on titles that never made it to DVD.
(I should also try to back it up onto DVD-R at some point, at least.)
If you do, please let me know.
I presume you mean “unavailable”?
Amazon has used VHS copies starting at 22.99.
