OK, I was listening to an FM station a month or so ago (which is rather uncommon for me), and they kept playing (about every half hour) a snippet of some song. I haven’t heard it since, but I also try not to listen to much FM as the higher frequencies tend to penetrate my tin-foil hat, but anyway. . .
The snippet they kept playing was a woman vocalist, and the lyrics went something like this:
This nine to fiiiiiiiive. . .
I don’t know if I deeeeeead or aliiiiiiiive.
IIIIIII’m looking for something special.
“Special” might have even been the name of it. That little snippet was rather catchy, but did it ever make the airwaves? Who did it? Is it a hit?
Wait a minute–you mean that at this very minute, just because it’s being broadcast somewhere on FM, I could have Billy Joel music passing through my very body???
Sorry I can’t help. But this is weird. I put: lyrics “I’m looking for someone special” - into google, and got a page for “A Shoggoth on the Roof - The Musical - Book and lyrics by He Who (for legal reasons) Must Not Be Named.”
OK, I would like to thank everyone for their tireless-but-unsuccessful efforts in solving this mystery.
However, I have found the answer. I heard this snippet being promoed on a local station. It was from a website called firsttastemusic.com. The song is indeed “Special,” and it’s from an as yet unreleased album by a husband-and-wife duo called “Wilshire.”
Not that anyone was asking, but just in case anyone was curious.
