Obscure TV shows you just LOVE

Gee plnnr,

I’ve not mentioned the show to anyone in years that actually remembered it.

It aired in the mid 70s, wasn’t well appreciated by viewers or the critics, and fell off the face of the earth. AFAIK, the original partial year run (13 episodes, I think) never again graced the airwaves.

The gentleman that you refer to is James Cromwell (I think).

Well, I don’t know if it’s considered obscure or not but I loved Dinosaurs. I thought the humor was very Simpson-esque, but before the Simpsons.
But I watched it with roommates a few years ago and nobody else got it.

Also, I’ll throw in The Great Space Coaster. I sure wish I could find reruns of that.

auughh! “The Great Space Coaster”?!? I haven’t thought of that show in ages! That was set in some weird other-plane, right? And there was some big white guy who looked like the bastard offspring of Grimace and an egg? woah jeez, what a mindblower this early in the morning.

I have to second Sifl -n- Olly. Can’t wait for season three. People, do a search for ‘sifl’ on anpster or whatever. all the songs and skits are hilarious.

Red Dwarf I like, but only the first few seasons. Then they devolved into an unsatisfying amalgam of a lot of sci-fi and a little comedy. Gotta love the cat, and Ace makes the later episodes worth watching. Whenever I see him airsurfing an alligator, I crack up.

Space Ghost, and Ghost Planet too. And a really old show (like ten years) called Haywire or something, w/ Gilbert Gottfried as host. Those were the days. sigh…

Space Ghost Coast to Coast is damned funny.

And another thing, Why the hell doesn’t anyone rerun Ren and Stimpy? It’s been off the air long enough to qualify as nostalgia at this point.

And if you haven’t seen the League of Gentlemen, well… then you probably don’t recognize my sig.

Maybe not obscure, but I already miss Sports Night…

I loved “Police Squad!”. I think it only had something like five episodes, but I still think it’s the funniest thing I’ve ever seen on TV.

Favorite line- Well built blonde: “Is this some kind of bust?”

Detective: “It’s very immpressive, but we just need to ask a few questions.”

You probably have to see it.

Yep, Cromwell is the guy. I just couldn’t think of his name. Glad to hear from someone who also remembers the show. I’ve mentioned it to people and gotten completely blank looks.

Ok, I confess. I really liked “Anne of Green Gables.” It was showing on PBS a few years ago. I haven’t seen it lately.

that’ll do, plnnr. that’ll do.

Yep. And the gnews was delivered by Gary Gnew, where “No gnews is good gnews with Gary Gnew”.

I like the opening song too.

plnnr,

Who played the busty madam? She’s been in a number of other things but always bit parts or low budget stuff.

Amen! I miss Dan and Casey…<pout>

I’m sorry, I am no longer able to participate in this discussion per jb farley (what the hell is that about?)

Can’t recall her name, but she has been a bit player in a ton of stuff, most recently as Albert Finney’s secty. in “Erin Brokavitch.”

I was a fan of the short lived “Kindred: The Embraced”. It was kind of like “Interview With A Vampire” meets “Melrose Place”.

I also have every episode of “My So Called Life”. But I don’t think that counts as obscure.

Not sure if this show can be considered “obscure”, but I just can’t take my eyes off the tube when Blind Date is on. The same with this show on Sci-Fi called Crossing Over.

Ooooh, another fan right here. I think it’s obscure because it does have a cult-like following.

I love Blind Date! I watch it whenever I get the chance.

And Cranky, I used to watch “Supermarket Sweep” too. I have no idea which channel shows it now, but I think it may be the Game Show Network. I could be wrong.

You watch Space Ghost Coast to Coast too!? Space Ghost also had another show called Cartoon Planet. Originally, they played classic cartoons for an hour everyday, or maybe it was every week. Anyway, they cut the show down to half an hour and played less and less cartoons and started doing whole half hour comedy skits for the entire show. It was absolutly hilarious!!

And I recently heard that Nickelodian has started to replay the Ren and Stimpy show.

When I was a kid, I used to love Land of the Giants. I’ve met anyone outside of my family who’s ever even heard of it.

Now, I’d have to say Win Ben Stein’s Money.

I was a fan of Cupid, too. It was one of the few times I actually liked that guy in something.

I also like Due South, and Brisco County Jr.
