Obsessed fan shoots singer

This killing shocked me: Christina Grimmie, former The Voice contestant was shot dead at age 22 while greeting fans after a concert.

This is the kind of thing that shouldn’t happen. It always seems to be the singer, but I’m sure there are other examples.

To me this is like an act of terrorism. Now, when you’re hanging around after the concert you have to worry about this, too? Which fan has the gun?

Aye, pretty shocking and awful news.

Aye, sometimes it happens to the guitar player, while he’s on stage performing.

Famous people have never not had to worry about that kind of thing; it’s part of being famous.

I heard that news this morning, and thought of Dimebag, too. How fucked up a world is it where a performer should fear exposing themselves (you know what I mean, you’re sick.) to the fans.

From what I’ve been able to find online, there’s currently no idea what the motive was.

But when someone stalks or shoots or attacks a celebrity, isn’t it often the case that there’s mental illness involved?

Are you sure it was an obsessed fan rather than a rejected lover?

As of tonight on the news the word is that the shooter had never met the victim in person before and there was no relationship between them. Obsessed fan? Possibly. Jilted lover? No.

The shooter turned the gun on himself before he was apprehended. Doesn’t make the singer any less dead, but it is a tiny speck of good news. Maybe.

He did it in the wrong order.

They always do.

RIP, Christina. I’m a 2nd amendment supporter but stuff like this makes me take a long hard look at my beliefs.

No official word yet, but it seems likely it was a stalker/obsessed fan. The guy showed up with 2 guns and a knife. He definitely planned this attack.

Grimmie was very active on youtube and was followed by a lot of people. This a-hole probably saw her there and fixated on her. She was just beginning to emerge in the music business and probably didn’t have the money to hire a security detail.
