I do believe that a musician recently came out: Michael Bolton. And theater seems to have a lot gay people. I believe many suspect that Tyler Perry, who actually does Christian theater in drag and is a confirmed bachelor is actually gay.
Michael Bolton was in the closet for a while, despite writing songs that sounded suspiciously like those of Elton John. I don’t know whether he came out because he was mostly finished with his career, or being gay ruined it. I do know that I have not seen any churches using his songs anymore. And it makes me sad. I really like at least three of them (“Thank You”, “Pledge Allegiance to the Lamb”, and “I Will Praise the Lord”).
Why should he change – they’re the ones who suck.

If you have both a confessional box and a pastor, I think you’re more confused than he is. (Unless there’s some denomination that does both that I’m completely ignorant of?)

I’m not sure if this makes a difference to what you’re saying, but Elton John doesn’t write his own music. Most of it was written by Bernie Taupin, who, to the best of my knowledge, isn’t gay.

Having 2 relatives, one a RCC priest another a Nun, neither are gay.They were led to believe they had a calling, how ever both have had breakdowns, It is my belief that living an abnormal life is not good for anyone.
Some religions(not just the RCC. teaches a bad idea of sexuality. Then we have learned that homo sexuality is a biological happening, not choice,so some who go into a religious life may use it as an escape.
It is usuallyreligious beliefs that cause people to torment people who are gay, and one of the reason’s that some now have commited suicide,I wonder if the gay feel there is no escape from being themselves. Perhaps if the one’s who do the tormenting were taught that they should not judge another or love their neighbor perhaps there would be less tormenting. And the tormenters should be taught that they are responsible in a way for the death of an innocent person.

When I was working in a coffee shop, we had a stream of guys come through one day, all wearing special pinkish bracelets. From their manner and care with grooming, I jumped to the conclusion that they were gay. Turns out they were attendees at an evangelical revival down the street. Coulda fooled me.
Elton John does write his own music. His collaborator Bernie Taupin writes lyrics.
Catholics do occasionally use the term pastor informally, usually in my experience, to refer to the senior priest in the parish.
Also back when I was a churchgoer (years and years ago) there were men in the congregation, often in positions of leadership (choir directors, Sunday school teachers) that everyone “knew” were gay. It was mostly a kind of a “don’t ask, don’t tell” situation. This was a predominately black Baptist church.
