Michael Moore is who he is. It’s not at all surprising that he would jump on this train.
There was an interesting article, though, in the NYT times last week about folks like Baldwin, who shills for Capital One, wanting to have it both ways on this issue-- out there with the protestors on his way to cash his check of “ill gotten” gains.
That being said, I don’t know enough about MM to know if he is in a similar situation. Maybe he’s one of the “good” 1-percenters. Is his investment portfolio clean, from an OWS perspective?
If anyone wants to believe that there is a valid equivalence between MM and the rabid goblin that is Glen Beck, go right ahead. MM exaggerates, this is a fact. Glen Beck spews poisonous pus that would make a maggot puke his guts out. That is another fact. And if you see an equivalence there, that those things are roughly the same, well, so be it.
How can you devote so much time to talking about this kind of shit and never think about it?
Maybe Sarah Palin is held up as a representative of a certain group of people because she was their god-damned nominee for Vice President of the United Motherfucking States. Maybe there is something similar that Rick Perry and Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann all have in common that they don’t share with Michael Moore.
There is absolutely a valid equivalence between the two. Different media, but equivalence in approach and stupidity. The conservatives have Beck, the liberals have Moore. Both sides are stuck with those two idiots. Trying to minimize Moore’s contribution to the mess of divisiveness is obsequious to your cause.
That’s it? You’re gonna blow off the rest of it for Palin? Fine, fucking drop her. She’s a fucking reality TV show star last I heard. What about the content of the fucking post. Jesus Christ.
The content of the post was you whining about how Michael Moore is just as much a representative of liberalism as the elected representatives of one party are for that party, and how unfair it is for a person to say Michael Moore doesn’t speak for a protest that isn’t party-affiliated, when that same person might also say that those elected officials represent the party they represent.
Well thanks for the Reader’s Digest version of my post as told by Corky Thacher. Did you have something to add? Or are you just gonna sit there with your thumb up your ass shouting “Sarah Palin” like Raymond fucking Babbitt anticipating the new version of The People’s Court?
The guy who shoots the pigeons and cleans up the shit probably doesn’t get the same credit as the guy who sculpted the statues in the first place, but what are you gonna do; those birds stay shittin’.
Not to worry sweetie, you’re not “flummoxed,” you’re just dumb as a door-knob but not as useful. It’s not your fault, so chill, 'cause at the rate you’re going I fear for your blood pressure and the ensuing issues it’ll bring – when it’s patently clear you’ve already got more than you can handle.
You are a one man wrecking crew to the theory of natural selection. “Debating” you is akin to roasting ants under a magnifying glass – and just as puerile.
Anyway, thanks for the laughs and if you haven’t already, please don’t spread your genes.
In anyone else is interested – doubtful as such a premise is – in this colorful exchange, it goes something like this:
So I respond (alright, I admit it, I prick him*****) to the troglodyte thusly:
I’d love to see them try the “persuasive tactics” we’ve seen in those videos in Blood/Crips/MS-13 turf – where as we all know laws are never broken nor is the “general population” affected in their daily lives. Of course, I’ll also grant you that the OWS Movement is far more dangerous…to many an illicit fat wallet.
Hilarity ensues…
*****leave it be, 'luc!
Don’t some***** of you kids just hate MrS & his fucking consistent use of reason and logic? Dude’s been at it for over a decade with machine-like accuracy. I’m starting to think it’s something to do with the water in those damn socialist Scandinavian countries! Happy bunch of pinko-commie go-bots…
Funny, that actually happened to me. When I was but a wee lad, my grandparents finally saved up enough money for a TV. There was a kids show, can’t remember the name, but the idea was they would broadcast a pattern, and you would use a special screen of plastic and some “special” crayons to fill in the missing parts of the pattern. Which I didn’t have.
You can guess, right? Suffice to say that crayons only smear, they never actually erase. Then I remembered that scrubbing powder my Gramma used to clean stuff with, that’ll work! Sadly, no.
When my Grandaddy got home, my Mom and Gramma were still trying to decide whether to grind me up and feed me to the chickens, or try and sell me to the circus. He looked over the situation, unscrewed the front of the tv, took out the plastic sheet that protected the actual tube, went and got a piece of glass cut to that shape, and wa-la! All good.
“Son, you’re gonna have to smarten up a bit, I ain’t gonna live forever…”
That’s a funny story. I’d tell you about my gnawing through leather straps story but that’s as prolly more TMI than **rachellogram’s **crotch stink/swamp ass thread.
The bankers and a lot of right wing posters just don’t get it. Suck up to those who rob you and scoff at those who are robbed. What a fine group we are.
I’m still waiting for a response to my previous post to you (#1418), and I think the issue with Palin vs. Moore is a bit of a distraction, but:
If you’re conservative, and you don’t agree with Palin, I wouldn’t claim that her public statements represent you or your beliefs. I’m sure there are a lot of conservatives out there who disavow Palin, and Beck, and Hannity, and Limbaugh, and O’Reilly, and Savage, and Coulter, and Will, and Podhoretz, and Kristol, and Pearl, and Wolfowitz, and the Koch Brothers, and Robertson, and O’Keefe, and Halperin, and Gingrich, and Rove, and so on, and so forth. And if you are one of those conservatives, I applaud you.
That doesn’t change the fact that Sarah Palin was, for a while at least, immensely popular among a certain group of people who saw her as articulating a very clear expression of their beliefs in the public sphere. It’s this particular group of conservatives you’ve got to wonder about, who seem to wield a power on the right disproportionate to their numbers – and people are rightly outraged by some of the things they seem to believe in, as expressed by Sarah Palin. There are principled conservatives – Daniel Larison jumps to mind – who occupy a space in conservative thought light years from Sarah Palin, and it would be stupid indeed to claim Sarah Palin represents the view of Daniel Larison just because they both call themselves conservatives.
So, in the same way you would say Sarah Palin does not represent your views, I should be able to say Michael Moore does not represent mine. Unless Sarah Palin actually does represent some of your views…?
At any rate, Michael Moore is at the very least much more intelligent and articulate than Sarah Palin, this must be admitted even if you strongly disagree with his politics.
Shit, I’m not even a conservative, but I’m not a liberal either. None of the celebrity conservatives represent my views. By the same token, none of the celebrity liberals represent my view either. On this board however, my views are considered just this side left of a Southern Baptist Minister.
OK, but that’s not what I am saying. What I am saying is the people who disagree with my opinions are the ones saying the Sarah Palins of the world represent me. All, I’m saying is don’t tell me Sarah Palin and the Tea Party speaks for me because I think the OWS and 99%'s are stupid and then tell me Michael Moore doesn’t speak for you. It’s one way or the other.
I think we are both saying the same thing to be honest.
I wouldn’t necessarily agree with this and I don’t think Trig fell as far from the mommy tree as she pretends.
Oh and as an aside, I wasn’t blowing you off. I didn’t see your post.
