I read **Fledgling **over the weekend and really enjoyed it. It’s been a while since her last book. I wish she was more prolific.
This one is about vampire-like creatures living in a symbiotic relationship with humans. I did think this book had a little too much exposition; the main character conveniently has amnesia so people spend a lot of time explaining things to her. It’s typical Butler in that the characters have seriously freaky relationships with each other that after a while start to seem normal and even enviable.
I sometimes have trouble with first-person narratives - the voice has to feel just right to me or I get annoyed with it. I have always liked Octavia Butler’s first-person voice.
