I’m a huge fan of classic horror movies and October is the best time for them. Here’s a thread to discuss which movies are being broadcast.
I’m quite impressed with the selection of classic horror movies on TCM for October and I’ve only browsed the schedule for the first few days of the month.
Tomorrow, October 2, features 3 Frankenstein movies: Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, and Son of Frankenstein.
Friday, October 7, features a night of silent classics. Nosfertatu, Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Unholy Three (which I’ve never seen), and Phantom of the Opera.
October 9 features more Frankenstein: Ghost of Frankenstein, Frankenstein meets the Wolf Man, and House of Frankenstein. Also, the silent Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
“Bride of Frankenstein” is one of those movies (even over “Citizen Kane”) that will make me drop everything and plop myself down on the sofa. Every. Single. Time.
Oh, yeah. Ernest and Boris at their very finest. Unfortunately I bought the whole “Universal Monsters” DVD set as soon as it came out so I can watch Bride whenever I want, which takes the fun away from seeing it on th’ teevee schedule.
There are wonderful photos online of the British contingent of the cast breaking for a cuppa tea in the afternoons.
Those pix are priceless! Frankenstein’s Monster with a cup o’tea and, glance down, A CIGGIE! Doesn’t he know those things’ll kill y…oh, right.
The pic of him in the make-up chair being worked on by Jack Pierce (sixth one down)? At first glance, I thought FM had stopped by Mayberry and was getting a once-over from Floyd the barber (Floyd took a little too much off the top).
I just absolutely adore the old school horror films, where you had to use your imagination - the torture porn/blood guts and gore stuff is really only shock value crap … now Psycho put the scare on a generation, making them nervous about showering alone!
