I think this might have been a question in GQ a few months ago, but I can’t find the thread. According to http://anybirthday.com/report.htm Oct. 5 is the commonest birthday in America. No big surprise there: It comes about 9 months after New Year’s Eve. My birthday was a few days ago, so I just missed it. Any dopers born on Oct. 5?
Well, my mom is not a Doper, but her birthday is October 5. My younger brother’s due date was supposed to be October 5, but he didn’t end up being born until October 25.
Yipes. I showed up a day late, I guess. And here I thought people born this week were special or something!
Well, that only means that we’re all fantastic Libras that spread beauty throughout the world!
born on friday, oct 13th, in time to watch Star Trek
Damn! I thought I was special! Serves me right for showing up 10 days early.
I’m sure you meant Most common… putz.
My first son was born on Oct 4. Pretty darn close.
By the way, I thought October was the 10th month. Wouldn’t 9 months after New years Eve be September?
See, that’s the big lie about pregnancy - they tell you it’s 9 months, but most babies are born at 40 weeks! Not to mention the poor women who have babies two weeks late.
Oooh, goody, we can get some Irish hunk to give you your expected due date spankings in Dublin. What a considerate child you were, sparing your mother that last, waddling week of pregnancy.
I made a study of my high school class (900) and found September to have the “most” birthdays.
But I did know someone with this birthday, so happy birthday Bonnie!
My daughter was born on Oct 16th. We started trying to the tinny’s lady prego on Dec 29th (our wedding day). Oh what a fun month that was!
No birthday, but my dad passed away on October 5, 1990.
Basic Math:
New Year’s Day is “01/01/xxxx”. Add 9 to 1 and you get “10/01/xxxx”.
Mom: October 5
Me : October 14
Sis: October 15 (2 years later)
I guess my parents only had sex on New Year’s Eve.
My dad is an Oct. 5th birthday. Speaking of which, what should I get him? He insists he doesn’t know what he wants, and YoungerSisterRiddles and I are going shopping this afternoon. Any thoughts? He likes motorcycles (BMWs. No Harleys. He scoffs at Harleys) and orchids. But he usually kills the orchids and buys himself the gear that he needs. I’m thinking of getting him a tie just because he wasn’t prepared with a list of demands. YSR threatened him with “if you don’t tell me what you want, I’m buying you a package of tighty-whities.” He said you could never have enough. ARG!!
And on a related (HAH!) note, my maternal grandmother was an Oct. 5th. I always thought it was strange that MommaRiddles married a dude who was born on the same date as her Momma, but if it’s the most common b-day, that’s a bit less-strange.
Yup, my bro’s b-day is today.
I’m gonna ask mom and dad what they did on New Year’s Eve 1953? When they go, “I don’t know,” I’m gonna go, “I do!”
Think about it, September is the 9th month, but at the beginning you’ve only traveled 8 months Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, June, July, Aug. So the end of September marks the 9th month, ergo early Oct.
Southern S.’ nifty mathmatical representation works for those left minded folks.
FYI: 40 weeks from January 1st is October 8th, and I’ve read that it takes on the order of 72 hours for a sperm and egg to join and implant into the uterus, technically beginning pregancy. Its funny cause its true.
My birthday is October 6 and I’ve joked for years that I was conceived New Years Eve.
My friend’s baby and an ex-boyfriend, who I’m still debating whether or not to call, have birthdays today.
so if you take those 3 days & the 72 hours for fertilisation, isn’t i more likely that the Oct 5th babies were generated on Xmas day/boxing day?
