Odd place names

It’s pretty sorry when you can be trumped by Longview.

We have “Springfield” here.

There are some very funny Aboriginal place names, such as Indooroopilly and Wooloongabba.

There is also a suburb called Goodna, which is Aboriginal for “dung heap”.

There is a town called “Milbong” around here, and in NSW there is a town called “Wooden Bong”.

Also - Bli Bli, Toowoomba, Gin Gin. There is an endless supply!

My boyfriend’s mother lives a few miles away from Bucksnort, TN. Every one who drives between Nashville and Memphis on I40 notices the exit.

Dribble Glass has a bunch of weird town names.

Hey, Colibri, do you know what would lead people to name something Salsipuedes? Does the Panama one have a story behind it? If the California one does, I’ve never heard it.

PS, one I like in California is: Buttonwillow.

I’ve always been fond of Sugar Tit, South Carolina

Oooh, I remember seeing that one! And further out West on I-10 (way further out), there is an exit for “Boracho Sta”, with nothing in sight. I’ve always wondered about that.

Let me tell you, though, that Comfort, Tx is anything but.
