Odd place names

I’m sure we’ve gone here before, but a quick search didn’t turn it up. Driving home from S.A. today, I saw that I-10 passes over one I hadn’t noticed before, Woman Hollering Creek.

Sure that there was an interesting story, I searched as soon as I got home. Well, there are enough tales and speculation that we’ll likely never know the truth about that one.

So, whatcha got?

There’s a Boring in… I think it’s Oregon. And Hell, Michigan, comes to mind.

Slapout, Oklahoma.

Near where I live in the UK we have Ugley . Nasty , Cold Christmas and Hope End. In the first named village there is an Ugley Women’s Institute.

In County Donegal, we have Muff. It’s by the sea. I’m sure there must be a diving club.

In eastern Victoria (Gippsland) we have a place called Spanker Knob.

Really. :stuck_out_tongue:

Intercourse, PA

Monkey’s Eyebrow, KY.
Bandana, KY.
Oscar, KY.
Possum Trot, KY.
Balls Gap, WV.

Ireland also has a Nobber, a Dubber, and a river Poddle.

In England I lived near Bryant’s Bottom and Pishill.

Actually, we also have Nad.

The plans for Ireland’s first incinerator were denied.
Nothing to do with the fact that they wanted to put it in a town called Ovens, I’m sure.

In Co Kildare, there is a place called Kill.
Not that I’m gory or gruesome, but I often think it would be hilarious to be able to tell people you were born and reared as a Killer

Sorry for the serial posting but if you want to do a tour of silly Irish placenames, I would be a shame to leave out Newtwopothouse.

In MA, there’s an Athol. Acthually, there’ths theveral of them.

Ok, it’s not much, but it’s early and I haven’t had much coffee. But I’m not from Athol. That should count for something.

How about Twomileborris? That there’s pretty damned silly too.

How about Medicine Hat, Alberta?

Salem, how could you forget Belchertown MA?

Athol has always been one of my favorites too.

Here are some:

Nigton, TX
Humptulips, WA
Cunot, IA
Crapo, MD
Felchville, VT
Dyckesville, WI
Dyke, VA
Dykesville LA
Fagleysville PA
Fagus MO
Hustler VA (Would the locals be “Hustlers?”)
Smuggler Notch VT

In Kentucky, there’s Rabbit Hash.

Here in Indiana, there’s Floyd’s Knobs and French Lick. Right down the road from me is Hardscrabble.

In Lancashire, there’s Ramsbottom. That’s all I can think of at the moment, brain’s in work mode. :frowning:
