I’m hoping this is a common problem that’s not brand specific.
Using a new Vizio 2022 D series tv and Android phone.
Vizio calls it Smartcast. I start it. Then Open YouTube. Press cast and watch a show. Works GREAT. I play several youtube videos. I turn off casting in YouTube and it plays on my phone
Change input on the TV to Coax. I get a black screen? Info button shows I’m on my last channel. I can’t change channels. Info shows I’m stuck. Black screen, No Audio
I try my Apps. Pluto works great. Netflix works great. Vizio WatchFree works. Coax Nope!!!
Power off/On still no Coax. Finally go into Setup and Reboot. Fixes the problem.
This is a major pain in the butt.
I have tried pressing Smartcast and then changing input to Coax. That works. But if I actually cast from my phone the problem happens.
Paramount+ is worse than Youtube. I can cast and watch one show. The next show endlessly buffers and never loads. Until I close the Paramount+ App and Reboot the damn TV.
I was going to rent some Shows on Amazon. But this casting problem is ruining my streaming enjoyment.
Anyone seen this? I don’t even know what to Google.
I have a similar issue with my Vizio TV. When I change the input (happens most often switching from the Xbox), I occasionally get the black screen, no audio, can’t do shit. Switching to the Xbox, I’ll often have video but no audio.
Either way, I am able to access the TV settings, and a quick reboot fixes it. Still pisses me off.

Maybe it is a Vizio issue. They don’t have an option to turn off Smartcast. It Starts when you press the Home button on the Remote. You can change inputs but Smartcast seems to still run.
I guess Rebooting doesn’t hurt anything?
I wonder if any files are getting left open and potentially corrupted.
Yeah, I blame it (without any real evidence) on Smartcast, too. Or maybe on that Apple thing they have.
It hasn’t for me, no. Everything seems to still be set up the way I left it.
Try just changing the input without turning off casting first. Changing the input will automatically turn it off.
That works with YouTube. I had a video cast and just changed the input to Coax.
Went back to Smartcast and had to restart the YouTube feed.

The Paramount+ problem is different. I watch an Episode and the Next episode should load after 5 seconds. But it endlessly buffers.
I’ll try changing the tv input during the Episode Credits. So the App doesn’t freeze my tv in Cast.
