Odd Things You've Seen Recently

This guy. Stepped out of a local restaurant and there he was

The one person I know who totes around a laptop - he’d have been watching a movie. Or a few episodes of Zero Punctuation. Or reading. If it was something with sound, he’d have used those little ear pods.

Everybody is different, some people have excellent balance and others dont. I would actually consider strapping a roller skate on which ever foot isnt flaring if my balance was a little bit better. [I cant hop on the almost good foot, it will cause a flare so I sort of shuffle-gimp along on really bad days.] I bet jackie chan could balance on one foot and have no problem whatsoever. That guy has the most amazing coordination. sigh

Have you seen a knee crutch? I would love one of those …

I once saw two people riding horses painted flourescent pink down a city bike trail on a crisp fall morning.

I took a shot in the dark and typed “Blind Segway” into Google. Here’s the guy.

A few months ago, my commute was held up slightly by a woman skateboarding down the hill I was attempting to drive down. She was at least 35 years old.

Are those headphones he’s wearing? Now I’m really impressed.

I live 12 storeys above the street. At one point there was a phone booth on the corner across the street. One fine summer afternoon I was out on my balcony watching the world go by, and one part of it was a clean cut guy across the street, pacing back and forth a little way down from the phone booth, maybe 3 meters or so. He stops, turns towards the phone booth, charges it, and slams into it with his head. He just about rocked the thing over on its side, so I imagine he hit it fairly hard. He bends over, picks up the sunglasses he’d lost in the collision, and walks away without a sound.

That’s about the most recent odd thing I’ve seen. More odd than recent, actually, but worth sharing.

And the world is a little better place this morning. I notice he isn’t actually in the crosswalk, though - are Segways considered vehicles in Boulder so he doesn’t have to stick to the sidewalks?

The knee crutch at least has a hand grip attached to the wheels for control - this wasn’t even an adult size skateboard. My kid got told by an expert that they’re far less stable than a full sized board (I checked, yep). This guy had no foot or knee movement at all on one side. I’m sticking with .

YMObviouslyV.

Driving through the mountains of Northern New Hampshire, I saw a house in front of a small lake.
The shore of the lake, directly in front of the house, was a sand beach.

I can’t imagine how much money it cost to deliver several truckloads of sand so you could have a beach in front of your house in the moutains of New Hampshire. Probably usable a dozen days out of the year.

Today I saw a B-Double do a U-turn on a regular two-laned road in my town…without a problem.
*
WHY* he was doing a U-ie at that spot was another matter altogether, but the fact that he pulled it off without holding up traffic for too long, and without having to back the rig up again left me just grinning with admiration.

Dude, whoever you were, kudos mate.

Sand beaches aren’t all that uncommon up there. I grew up two houses down from one, and can think of two or three bigger bodies of water that have naturally occurring sand beaches - one of them being Lake Winnepesaukee, right up there smack in the mountains. And our swimming season is a lot longer than twelve days, thankyewverymuch.

You shot who in the what now?

I guess the most well known eyepatch attorney is Andrew Vachss.

We are having a fierce rain-and-wind storm here. I saw a big street lamp on the ground with evergreen bough wrapped around it and a bow on the lamp.

Rather sad.

Sorry I’m a little slow getting back, but yeah that’s the guy! (I guess I was imagining the heels)
