With too much time onmy hands, I have composed the following ode:
Ode to the Wheel
No invention hath more significance,
Than you, oh wheel, in all magnificence.
I marvel at your flawless shape,
'Twas conceived and tailored by an ape!
Foreign to nature, devised by “man-kind,”
Your structure: ingenious, your purpose: divine.
Spinning, turning and rotating you go,
Your cimtrifical(?) motion is so beautiful.
Propelling our race into avenues yet known,
To think, it all started with a circle of stone.
It was from the day of your conception,
That technology took on a new direction.
No more spear heads or uncooked meals,
Soon we’d have planes, trains and automobiles.
Many inventions stemmed from your design,
Such as watches and clocks that keep accurate time.
A bicycle allows for easier transport,
And cars, more so, be it Sedan or Sport.
With so many gadgets you’ve been embodied into,
It would be hard to live my life without you.
To imagine a world without your presence,
I envision a time lacking any human essence.
Billions of apes cowering in caves,
No homes, or schools, or midnight raves.
Eons of evolution brought to a halt,
And if you didn’t show, it’d all be your fault.
But this was not the case, and indeed you came,
Providing the world with awe and a simplistic name.
So I tip my hat to you and return to my homecooked meal,
Our ingenious, indispensable, irreplacable wheel.
by the way, how do you spell cimtrifcal? is it even a word, because Microsft Word doesnt pick up on it when I type: cimtrifical, cimtiphical, symtrifical… etc.
