OEDers--bull's-eye date?

The Web. 10 dictionary has “bull’s-eye” as dating to 1825–but the primary definition is not the target one that comes to mind today (that’s no. 3). Anyone w/ an OED have a better fix on what date the term “bull’s-eye” came into common usage as meaning right on target/center of the target/etc.?

I’m factchecking a novel ms. that’s set in the U.S. in the 1850s.

My OED says this about ‘bulls-eye’:

Definition 11 (slang for a crown piece) seems to date back as far as 1690.

Hope that helps
