I’m a decent player but I want to get better. Most courses claiming to be the best are around $60. What are the best books on strategy that are available at a reasonable price.
Bonus Q: What is the BEST book on Backgammon strategy (price be damned)?
I used to play a lot but it never seemed like a deep strategy game. The early rolls pretty much determine how the game is going to go.
I prefer a variation of Acey-Deucey that at least has the appearance of involving strategy, although a run of good or bad luck will still decide the game.
Maybe not as deep as, say, chess, but there is a lot more to it than meets the eye.
The only backgammon book I’ve read - and this was years ago - is ‘Backgammon For Blood’ by Bruce Becker. The author touts a very aggressive strategy that, for me, worked very well.
You can pick it up on ebay for a couple bucks.
