Wait a second. I am not trying to stir up any shit, but have we not had a couple of instances of mods themselves going to “other boards” and using info from there to use against posters here? I know of at least one person was revealed to be a sock “there” and was immediately banned here. (I’m not condoning sockery, just saying that info was acquired - reviews legal lexicon gleaned from episodes of Law & Order - um, something about poisoned fruit, maybe?) If we have a “don’t bring it here” rule, it should be across the, er, board.

There was the case of jarbabyj/tinyham sock, which might be the one you’re thinking of, that was loudly detected on the other place, but people could have also done proper “report this post” to catch her. A couple of my own official warnings were accompanied by (IMHO inaccurate) implications about what I posted “there”.
There is opposing evidence that they don’t read there a lot (or enough??). Two examples are the case of the “KaitSix Outing” (white guy pretending to be Korean transvestite) and the Desmostylus banning for multiple “final” warnings, that required posters to repeat info on the SDMB before any action was taken.
eta: oh yeah, my warnings with the false implications were over the Desmo affair. lol.

I do report posts, we have been asked to. Most of what I report is wrong forums threads or when a poster is hoping a mod will wander by to do something.
I have yet to have a single mod complain about my reporting posts making their job harder. :rolleyes:

Reporting threads in general makes our job easier, not harder. Speaking for myself at least, I’d rather wade through a few unnecessary reports than to see a situation in a thread escalate until it’s gotten out of hand because no one bothered to report it.
Of course it’s great when people report. We should all report and report often. I just don’t like Junior Mods mucking up the place. I especially don’t like Junior Mods reading something misattributed somewhere else then reporting it here. It makes life a little . . . anxious, if you know what I mean.
