Office noise filter.

What are some of your techniques of filtering the low signal to noise ratio of office politics and rumours?

I’m new in to this company, we’re going through some pretty serious restructuring and I am being considered for a pretty senior position. People are either coming to me with unsolicited advice on what I should do/say or they are suspiciously eyeing me from a distance.

Haven’t been here long enough to make trusted friends or enemies. Though I suspect that by virtue of the fact that I’m actually being considered for this position, battle lines are already being drawn and knives being sharpened.

Worst of all, the chatter and the completely inane speculation about what the executive management will ultimately decide and the motives for their decisions. :rolleyes:
