Official 2006 Election Pit Thread [mild to start]

Willing to bet my ass and my momma that these problems are predominately centered in the less economically advantaged pricincts. Call it a hunch.

Yippee! scratch one incumbent Republican in the House, how many more before the night is through?

I’m rooting for the Democrats this election, but I’m glad to see that Lieberman won. Ned Lamont is a slimy little sleazeball - his campaign tactics really pissed me off when I was home this summer.

What a difference 10 minutes makes.

I wrote an entire post about the preliminary results of the U.S. Senate Race in Palm Beach County, Florida (home of the infamous “butterfly ballot”). At 9:05 p.m. EST, the Palm Beach Post was reporting on its Web site that Katherine Harris had received 100 percent of the vote countywide. Moreover, she was the only candidate to receive votes in PBC. :dubious:

Fortunately I checked the site one last time before hitting submit, because it looks like the early reports were a mistake. The Post is now reporting that Bill Nelson has 79 percent of the vote, and Harris has 21 percent. I’m assuming the early numbers resulted from either human error or a glitch in the Post’s software.

Charlie Crist has a 200,000 vote lead over Jim Davis at the moment, and the House races are too close to call. This could get interesting …

No no, that’s good, see-I already have a GREAT idea for a Dopefest trip to egg his house!!!

The gentleman sitting next to me agrees, but what I want to know is who’s going to be driving the getaway car?!

Not so. Seriously, elucidator, the entire city is fucked. Matter of fact, the poorer areas are conspicuous by their absence on the list of the worst.

Reports are that voting booths are standing empty. The bottleneck is at the laptops and network which are used to verify voters.

This is terrible. Denver is strongly Democratic, and this could cost the state level candidates dearly. And we have only the Denver Election Commission to blame.

Shit, Frank, that’s terrible. You have my thoughts and prayers.

As for Pennsylvania, anyone else dancing around the house singing, “Ding Dong the Witch is Dead?”

I pit the goddamn Greens. It looks like the independent Green candidate in Virginia may be siphoning off enough progressive voters to keep Webb from defeating Allen.

Which could mean (depending on how things turn out) that the Greens have twice, in the space of six years, cost the Democrats control of a branch of the federal government.

On another messageboard, someone expressed fear that he’d make a come from behind victory :D.

Me, I’m just refreshing CNN.com like a total spaz. Cautiously optimistic that we’ll kick Charles Taylor out of office. Cherokee County hasn’t turned in their results yet, which will probably be strongly pro-Taylor (he keeps the Lumbee from being recognized as a tribe and thereby keeps the Cherokee gambling monopoly intact), but then “Now you’re talking bunkum” Buncombe County is coming overwhelmingly in favor of Taylor’s milquetoast opponent, and currently it’s 53-47, advantage Milquetoast.

Santorum’s conceded? Santorum’s conceded!!! Excuse me while I dance around the room! Anyone want to join me?

You celebrate now, but just wait until man-on-dog sex is legal and there are no families any more as a result. You’ll be sorry then!

Well, its a dog eat dog on man world.

twirls Siege and Guinastasia, one on each arm, around the room

Best damn news I’ve had all day!

Y’know if you go look at the county by county numbers the fact he is polling 15-20% in some downstate counties is pretty amazing to me. I mean he is pulling 10% statewide at this point. I guess I wasn’t the only Democrat who couldn’t stomach casting a vote for Blago, the crooked S.O.B.

Wisconsin bigots have passed the discrimination amendment. Early returns put the margin at 68-32.

Fuck all of you asshole bigot bastard motherfuckers for voting to fuck over an entire segment of the population. But especially fuck the 15% or so of you who for the past several months have been lying about how you’re going to vote. Poll after poll after poll put the question at close to a dead heat with the bigots being ahead by a few points. So the bigots are not only evil hate-mongering fuckers, 15% of them are such cowardly pussy little bitches that they can’t own up to their nasty baseless prejudices with an anonymous pollster on the phone. Way to have the courage of your convictions.

And an extra-special fuck you sideways to the first Doper who comes in here and says that it’s “the will of the people” or any of that shit.

Otto, has there ever been a state that, when put to a vote, has had a gay marriage ban proposal rejected?

Nope. But based on polling data, there was a great deal of hope that Wisconsin would be the first. I for one wasn’t counting on it, having never yet been disappointed when it comes to the capacity of my fellow humans for bigotry. I’m mostly shocked that so many of the fuckers would proudly cast their ballots for discrimination but not have the balls to own up to it.

Charles Taylor is gone–woohoo! So is our local corrupt sheriff, but y’all don’t care about that.

Daniel

CNN is projecting that the Democrats have taken the House.
