Yeah, in an incredibly smarmy and self-serving speech where he talked about how much he admires Casey, and how he offered his help and support. Bitch, please.
Oh, and he had his kids around him when he gave his concession speech-the youngest girl was crying (she’s about eight or nine, I think), and his older boy was holding back tears. Poor kids shouldn’t have to be there.
It’s a fucking shame that the best ideas of the party of big ideas was: irritating robo-calls, lying and fraudulent literature, and John Kerry is a bad guy.
Fuck them now, and fuck them in two years. Unless I’m mistaken, there are more presumedly vulnerable Republican senators up in 2008 than there were this year.
Quite a brief run for the permanent majority party. Now that the people are speaking, hopefully we’ll be able to start cleaning up some of the shit.
When any Democrat files such a complaint about a Republican, it’s pitchfork-and-torches-storming the castle time. But when a Republican files such a complaint, he’s being an asshole?
Perhaps because Rick Santorum had the same response to any Democrat who filed complaints-they were lying. And because, after living here in Pennsylvania, right here in Pittsburgh, Santorum’s home town, I’ve seen the way he operates, I’ve followed his campaign, and he has no credibility whatsoever.
Fair enough. FWIW, I’m not disputing that Republicans might have had trouble-I just don’t believe it coming from the Santorum camp, because it’s the case of the “boy who cried wolf.” I believe them about as much as I do Heather Mills McCartney’s claims of abuse: not at all.
Voting went smooth as could be for RogueGF and I, even though we hit the polls right after work (about 5:10pm). No wait. No mixups. That said, I’m disappointed with what I just read. While I think Otto got carried away with his post (I don’t know his situation though), I will say that RogueGF and I are both upset that Wisconsin didn’t end up being a voice of reason for tolerance. Sorry Dopers, we tried.
At least Wisconsin did side with Kerry last election, so we did get something right. Sadly, a majority of the states managed to vote Bush in for the second term. Hopefully the early results are right and the House is no longer under his control and he will have to fight to put any more of his insanity into law. That’s something I guess.
Fuck. I’m pretty annoyed that there are so many people that won’t open their eyes to what the Republican party line has cost us these last few years. Fuck all of you close-minded, party-line walking fuckers! Doesn’t it say something when opinion polls in places like Great Britain show Bush as more of a threat than Kim Jong-il? I’m ashamed that I voted for the cocksucker in 2000 (I blame Tipper, PMRC and all that). Too bad the fucking Dems not being able to provide an alternative in 2004. You fuckers better get it right in '08.
I had a ball voting against our version of the ban here in Texas. It’s always fun to be able to actually see yourself on the results. Let’s see, 42,421 for, and 1 against for the county. OMG that’s meeee!!!
Gore won NM in 2000 by like 355 votes. For a while there it was looking so close that I could practically see the effect of my voting for Nader right there in the total.
It looks like Coloradans have decided to institutionalize bigotry, too. CNN has the Same-Sex Marriage Ban amendment at 57% yes. How can people be so stupid, so ignorant, so intolerant? Gah!
It would be easier to live with that had the domestic partnership initiative passed. It still might; there are a lot of Denver votes not yet counted, but as Otto mentioned, there’re a lot of people lying to pollsters.
